NH DHHS Reschedules “Rule Change” Hearing to Allow Medicaid Coverage for “Gender Reassignment”

Burning USS Raleigh on NH State FlagNew Hampshire currently prohibits using Medicaid dollars to fund sex change surgery, but a few weeks ago Rich Girard broke a story about how the state’s Department of Health and Human Services was looking to change the rules. Transition them, so to speak, to allow tax dollars to finance sex change operations to Medicaid recipients.

According to information contained on the department’s Rulemaking Notice Form:

This proposal amends the rule, by deleting paragraph (g), to remove the categorical prohibition of coverage of gender reassignment surgery.

The Department of Health and Human Services (NH-DHHS) scheduled a hearing for August 24th, but according to Cornerstone Action, the department has rescheduled the hearing.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will hold a public hearing September 13 (originally scheduled for August 24) on a proposed rule change that would permit Medicaid to cover “gender reassignment” surgery. This would include surgery for children covered under the N.H. Healthy Families program.

Emphasis mine, because,

The American College of Pediatricians urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex. Facts – not ideology – determine reality.

There will be plenty of pushback from people who insist life doesn’t begin until after birth but that children can know what gender they should be before they’re old enough to what sexuality really is.

Or something like that.

The long and the short of it is that the state wants to use the money it took from you to pay for someone’s elective surgery.

The hearing is September 13th.

The hearing will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard Recreation Assembly Room at the Governor Hugh Gallen Office Park at 99 Pleasant Street in Concord. Written testimony will be accepted via postal mail, email, or fax until September 20. Write to the DHHS Administrative Rules Unit, 129 Pleasant Street, Concord NH 03301; email michael.holt@dhhs.state.nh.us; fax to 603-271-5590.
