Who knew that a take-off and landing could speak so LOUDLY?

Air Force OneThis, I did not know (all I knew was that Trump had travelled from Saudi Arabia to Israel but not the route, emphasis mine).  The Blogline of the Day is at the end:

Nobody Flies From Saudi Arabia to Israel. Nobody. Trump Just Did.

The two nations have no diplomatic relations. Travelers can’t fly from one country to the other. Planes can’t even fly through the other’s airspace.

In order to travel from one nation to the other requires travelers to take what many call a “cleansing stop.” Often, flyers go to Amman, Jordan, or Cairo, Egypt, before heading on. And travelers who stop in Israel before heading to Saudi Arabia often ask Israeli officials not to stamp their passports (Saudis authorities get visibly unhappy when they see the stamp). Some frequent fliers even have an extra passport so they can keep one clear of the Israeli stamp.

That’s what makes President Trump’s itinerary so interesting. He made Saudi Arabia his first stop, which no doubt greatly pleased the Saudi royal family. Then he flew from Riyadh directly to Tel Aviv, which no doubt made them furious.

In fact, the flight may well have been the first in history from Saudi Arabia to Israel, the Associated Press reported.

And the kicker?

It seems more likely then that Riyadh, Jerusalem, and Washington orchestrated Trump’s direct flight in order to send a message to Tehran.

I don’t think that this “message” was just for the Iranian mullahs.  I think that this was as much a kick in the face to Obama as it was a complete denouncing of Obama’s Middle East policies (which, if you look at them at the 50,000 foot level, didn’t result in very much in what Obama SAID he was doing.  On the other hand, the results WE see may be what Obama WANTED).  ISIS is getting hit harder and harder and Teheran is getting the shaft – and encirclement.  While this is not the tearing up of Obama’s pact with Iran (which basically was a shaded green light to proceed with their nuclear program AND funding more of its terrorism actions), I think the message was multi-fold:

  • I’m not Obama – not by a long shot
  • America is now showing a more tradition outlook on our allies – and you ain’t one
  • Be afraid – this is not the only step because…
  • …If I can get Israel and the Saudis to do this, a giant jump in cooperation on this, go ahead and try mapping out what I can get them to do next

Sure, I’m not touchy feely with everything that was done or said by Obama but one thing is fer sure: he ain’t Obama and he CERTAINLY isn’t Hillary.
