The Progressives would say no because:
- Only the State should have the monopoly on Force
- It gives the homeowner an unfair advantage over your “guest” (who only invaded your home because Society oppressed him and forced him to be poor)
- You’re racist!
- You’re a homophobe!
- The Second Amendment was written by old rich slave-owning white dudes hundreds of years ago so it’s only dusty writing and who cares any more and shouldn’t matter anymore and besides SCARY GUNS and….
