John Kerry: hey, Isrealies – don’t defend yourselves!

John "Lurch" KerryWe hear this from Obama’s Secretary of State about Israeli citizens arming themselves against the Palestinians that are attacking them in what is being called “the third intifatah” (emphasis mine, reformatted)

Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters today that Israel has a right to defend itself, but discouraged against “self-help” responses to random stabbing attacks from Palestinians.  Israeli authorities have encouraged citizens with gun permits to carry when they’re out and about, as they can possibly stop an attacker before police can get on the scene.

Of COURSE he did – American Liberals, of which Kerry is a Prime case, hate the idea that Force should be shared – FORCE should be the purview and monopoly of The State. Firearms should only be owned and used by agents of the State (note to Kerry – the reason why older Americans carry guns is that we can no longer carry cops on our backs). However, the Israelis seem to know better.  After all, they are THERE (versus their “Better” deigning from thousands of miles away) where the knives, guns, and cars are being used to injure, maim, and kill Jews.  They’ve already been through this – I hope they tell this blowhard to go pound sand (or rather, go wander around Gaza for a while – without his armed bodyguards):

Israel Army Radio reported today that the internal security ministry phone service “collapsed” from citizens inundating the ministry with gun permit requests. They’ve doubled the number of workers at the ministry to field the requests.

More people want to be able to defend themselves.  Unlike the Blue Staters, the State of Israel is accommodating those requests from those that know that the security forces cannot be everywhere all the time; like Americans of an earlier age (as well as a large number of us today) they know that THEY are the First Responders. But “Liveshot” presses on:

Appearing at a press conference in Madrid with his Spanish counterpart, Kerry again used the recent spate of violence in Jerusalem to call for a two-state solution. “Security and diplomacy go hand in hand. There is not a time for one and then the other, really there is an importance to both. We want to see calm restored and we want to see the violence stop. And I think everybody in Israel and in the region would like to see both of those things happen,” Kerry said.  “We continue to urge everybody to exercise restraint and restrain from any kind of self-help in terms of the violence, and Israel has every right in the world to protect its citizens, as it has been, from random acts of violence.

In other words, Lurch just told Israeli citizens to just be victims – remember, he’s “trying to get something important done” and, well, you aren’t helping in attacking back those that are attacking you first.

Tell ya what, Kerry, just give them all a reproduction of your “magic hat” and all will be done, eh?
