Steve’s post on the ludicrous position that the Press allowed themselves to be in (literally, in) by the Hillary campaign brought this thought to mind:

That would be Every Day Carry – stuff that you think you might need “just in case” when out of the house. I carry a SOG jackknife – sharp sucker; would have cut that rope (probably just thin clothesline rope) in a single swipe. But that’s beside the point. A better question is:
Really, you lapdogs ALLOWED yourselves to look this stupid? The Scoobie van episode wasn’t enough debasement for you?
This guy will be the butt of jokes and derision for years. So why did they allow it to happen?
Access, for one. Do not anger the Hildabeast that you have been assigned to cover. Do not jeopardize your ability to ask her what her favorite ice cream flavor is while yer at it. In short – don’t do your job in “afflicting the comfortable” to get the information you are supposed to get for the rest of us. Have you no pride in yourselves or in your profession? Or are you really the totally self-abused nitwits that we repeatedly hold in such low regard?
And secondly, with such a stunning, open, hilarious example of Glen Reynolds’ phrase “Democrats with bylines” in being such submissive toadies to She That Should Be Empress…
