So, what do Obama, Hillary, and George Pataki have in common?

“Defeating Islamic terror, shrinking government, growing the economy. These are the issues that matter most.  Instead, we’re debating social issues like abortion and gay rights. They’re a distraction and only help to elect Hillary.  After 8 years of Obama style socialism, we need to shrink government, not let Big Government tell us how to live our lives.”

George PatakiThat’s from a George Pataki ad (if you don’t know, he thinks he can be the next Prez) – just ignore them, a nothing burger on the grander scheme of things.  And he’s completely oblivious that Big Government IS using those issues and demanding that we live our lives accordingly.  THAT is why she AND Obama are emphasizing them! Take a read

Religious beliefs – abortion, gay marriage. Change them, BANISH them,  they say.  Ignore them, he says – even as, for instance, gay marriage is being used to change the Law.  That’s a big deal, George!

And Pataki is right there with a “what me, worry” deal? That is we ignore them, as he suggests, it’ll all work out in the end, yeah? No, it won’t and it sounds like OUR beliefs don’t matter to him – nothing there to “conserve”.   Sounds like religious and moral views are not “distractions” to them, does it? Of course, they know – those issues MATTER!  In fact, religious belief is an enemy to be defeated in their eyes – and George Pataki is campaigning on the idea that we should let them just take that same political ground. Retreat, he says.

Guess his political career is so old and gone, he never heard of Andrew Breitbart’s adage “Politics is downstream from Culture“.  And he wishes the rest of us to ignore that ‘Grok adage that “Social issues ALWAYS have a fiscal cost” – can’t win that “shrink government!” battle when you leave your ammo at home.  Which is exactly what he wants the rest of us to do – disarm ourselves.

The message is that Culture defines our politics – the Dems took Italian Socialist Antonio Gramsci’s words to heart and have taken over the cultural high ground (Hollywood, news, music, pop culture) and created their end around his means.  And in his ad I transcribed above, Pataki (a rumored candidate for the Republican nomination for President in 2016) is all well and good at giving up :

Hate this ad for the above reasons – another Republican just GIVING up.  And as far as actually shrinking government, I keep hearing that from Republicans and the ONLY person who has fulfilled their promise and actually did it since I’ve been here in NH these last 30 odd years has been former Speaker of the House Bill O’Brien; otherwise the track record of Republican elected officials have been pretty wicked and abysmally poor (and that’s being extremely kind)
