Shoddy Insurance?? How about shoddy Govt??

And yet, the fundamental principle of Progressives is that they alone can provide “expert Government” for us all.

Or, should this post’s title have been “The miserable government we hoist above ourselves” (think about that double entendres stemming from that).  What DO we call a government that cannot be honest with its Citizens, that denies the truth of its publicly stated “truth” to cover up its “intended” truth – the latter so poisonous to itself, it could not speak of it while passing the legislation that implemented it?  When a President stands up for years and says “Got what you like?  You can keep it.  Period.”, we are supposed to think “this is good governance”?

No equivacations.  No wiggle room.  No weasel words.  This time, plain words.  Short sentences.  And a single declarative word, “Period”, that screamed “case closed.  Finality.  No bad outcomes.  A narrative that told us, normative Free Citizens, that we still had the Freedom to Choose for ourselves and our families.  A nod to what should be commonly understood – we Citizens have and are to be the final choices for our lives rather than Government.

And they, and the President, baldfaced LIED to us.  They knew all along.  They knew since the beginning.  THAT WAS THE PLAN from the get-go. To herd us as if we were mere cattle?  That in their eye, we ARE JUST cattle?

And that’s supposed to be good Govt – the largest Progressive plan ever built on the foundation of a lie?

And now, with millions absolutely angered that their insurance choices have been overriden by the few hundred Democrats in DC who believe they are smarter than those millions,  the Democrats now have the temerity to try to defend their stealing of Citizens’ Freedom by blamin “shoddy insurance by shyster insurance companies whose goals were to take the money and cancel the policies”?  This is Shoddy Government at its worst. Really, how believable can it be that a Government that first creates “victims” by touting it will “save” them, now is trying to portray itself as the “victim” of Citizens’ outrage by saying “hey, we’re hurting only a small percentage of you all – why are you all so mad at us?  Er, because we see the Bear eating them and we can’t out run it?  Even as we see Government at its worst?

And yet, the most basic principle of Progressives is that they alone can provide “expert Government” for us all.

Hrumph.  The Progressive mask finally fell this past week – it is their stated aims that they should choose for us.

Why can’t I buy 100 watt incandescent bulbs?  A toilet that flushes?  A shower head that doesn’t work well (forcing me to put in two)?  Just three items among 10s of thousands that I can’t buy (thanks Democrats AND Republicans) that would better fit my needs?   Just because someone in Government, or some special interest group acting on Government, thinks that “it isn’t good for me”? Or that they think “this would better for you – so we will “mandate” it”.  Do they really think we peons to be so stupid as to not recognize that “mandate” is simply a euphemism for “we’re forcing you – and you can’t stop us“.  In many ways, they’re right – how often can a single individual protest a decision made within the bowels (appropriate word) of a Leviathan bureaucracy and get it reversed?

How do they know that?  Who did they ask – their own circle of friends?  Their own circle of friends whose main interest includes an ideological tic that says “we think this is bad behavior – so we will force our notion of good behavior on you!”.  And we get Obamacare.  A camel is a horse designed by a committee, or so the saying goes.  How many thumbs got

The Libertarian in me comes out – a perfect safe product that I, as an adult, am no longer to choose?  And isn’t that just plain shoddy government, that officials believe they should have the power to do that?  That in doing so, do they ever believe that the message they send is “you are too stupid to buy what you need”.

Isn’t it Shoddy Government to force me to  buy something I don’t need?  Why does it (and the totalitarians behind it) believe that they know better than I do?  Why does it (and the totalitarians behind it) feel they can force themselves upon us?  Why can’t they seem themselves as the bullies that they are?  Isn’t it Shoddy Governance that forces me to buy stuff I don’t want and I don’t need?  I don’t need maternity care, I don’t need pediatric care – I got the Big Snip decades ago and TMEW is now of the age that we no longer will have kids.  I don’t need substance abuse care (neither of us even drink alcohol).  So forth and so on.  Even with an “Activist Government”, when is enough, enough?  However, when I ask that question, there never is a direct answer – heck, there never is an answer at all!

There is a place for Government, a limited one; our forefathers had it exactly right in the Declaration:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed

This philosophy demands that Government protects the Individual and his Rights by calling out the King’s abuses of his subject’s Right to Private Property and the abject flogging of the Rule of Law..  And to quote Obama: “Period.”   No equivacations.  No wiggle room.  No weasel words.  Plain words that define that Government’s highest calling and highest responsibility is to Protect Liberties and not the Arbiter of Redistributions.  We have strayed from First Principles  in our current political atmosphere by allowing the heretical and foreign philosophy called Progressivism (constantly opposing the notion of Freedom) take root and take over.

Is it time to review that next section?

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

Americans have been lulled into thinking that Tyranny cannot get a foothold in this country and much less, take over.  We should always be ever vigilant, for Tyranny has been the norm – with the exception of the philosophy behind America’s birth.  That is the American Exceptionalism – not the lie that Obama has tried to implement that Americans are not any more exceptional than another other nation’s subjects – that Citizens come first, not Government.

Instead, have we devolved, by not paying attention of our founding documents, into just another Shoddy Government, when we settle for Lies?
