 Illegals crossing border

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention…

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $ 1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Guest Post: “I don’t think, I have faith; therefore I am an automaton”

baby bomb.Sept 11 .

islamobomb.hostages

I think about the 9/11 hijackers. Why? I ponder the Iranian revolution of 1979 and the "hostage crisis." Why? What did we do? The images of the several more famous (and videotaped) beheadings remain seared in my memory. How is this even possible? Several nights ago, I watched a Fox News report that reviewed the facts surrounding the possible "honor killing" of two Texas girls by their Muslim father and included audio of the 911 recording made in the moments the two were riddled with bullets. I can’t get the horror out of my mind of hearing the exact instant a father– A FATHER!!!– murdered his own flesh and blood… in the name of a supposed religion.   How could a human be so cruel? Someone from PELHAM, NH found committing "terrorist acts" while in Somalia. Huh? How does THAT happen?

Amil Imani is an Iranian-born American citizen and pro-democracy activist residing in the United States of America. Imani is a columnist, literary translator, novelist and an essayist who has been writing and speaking out for the struggling people of his native land, Iran. He and his family escaped Iran after the radical Islamic revolution. His observations on the growing Islamo-fascist threat need to be heard and understood by as many people as possible if we are going to stem the rising tide of murder and mayhem. I have often written of the danger I perceive we face by allowing the construction of mosques here in this country. Mr. Imani has graciously allowed us to post several of his writings here on the ‘Grok which delve into some of the facts demonstrating why my fear is not off-base.

Here, he has the answers to my questions posed above:

It is Islam, dummy

by Amil Imani

The terror and death inflicted on humanity is not the work of radical Islam, neither the political Islam, nor the militant Islam. It is Islam, period. Get it? And the perpetrators are not fringe elements confined to brainwashed Saudis, loony Taliban, or some know–nothing Pakistanis who have hijacked Islam and are now in the business of mass murder. The latest project of the practitioners of the “religion of peace,” aimed to blowing planeloads of innocent civilians to smithereens in midair over the Atlantic, – ought to finally drive the point home: It is Islam, dummy. Get it?

How could people calling themselves sincere God-fearing religionists bring themselves to even think of acts of such barbarity, yet plan them methodically and cold-bloodedly proceed to execute them?

The answer is Islam. The life manual of Islam, the Quran, is a document of exclusion, hatred and violence that shapes the Muslims’ thinking and behaving. This stone-age document is optimally suited for people of stunted development; people who prefer to follow than to think for themselves, to hate than to love, and to seek death rather than to celebrate life.

Sadly, Muslims themselves are the ones who are most victimized by Islam. They have inherited this viral psychological disease of hate and violence; they live by it, and transmit it to their children as well as to receptive others.

America: A Melting Pot No More

by Doug
According to a USA Today news article, the foreign-born population of NH grew 45% from the years 2000- 2005- putting us in the top five states. Nationally, the average shows the growth at 16%. Taken on its face, I have no problem with newcomers to our great land. I have a great friend from Columbia who is the most patriotic, civic-minded American citizen that I know. Unfortunately, he is now the exception, not the rule. (Click here for more my prior post on the modern "immigrant") He represents the American immigrant of a different era- the era when new citizens assimilated with those already here. And everybody was taught America’s founding principles…
.
I recently found an interesting passage in a copy I have of the 1929 Boy Scouts of America’s “Handbook For Boys”. I found it to be quite to the contrary of today’s emphasis on multiculturalism and diversity. The first section of the book asks, “What is scouting?” Part of the answer includes this:
“Scouting helps the Scout to value the great heritage which the past has brought to him in the life and ideals of America… Our America is the ‘melting pot’ of the world. Her strength has come from every people. Good will must be extended to these new citizens, indeed only as ‘the spirit of Brotherliness’ is present, can Liberty develop.”
Ah, the old “melting pot theory”. Do you remember learning about this when you were back in school? You know, people would come to America to shed their Old-world life in order to become Americans and live in a place where they could enjoy the fruits of their labor- free from the fear of confiscation. One people- “melted” together as Americans.

Good Question…

by Doug

One of my employees posed an interesting question this morning… Living in a touristy area like we do here in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, we have lots of service jobs- restaurants, hotels, etc. Many of the local businesses need to augment their workforce during the summer season. For whatever reason, they can’t find … Read more
