ACTA Classical Schools Foundation Names Seacoast Classical Academy as its third “Sponsorship School”

— Real Action to Promote Classical Education —

ACTA Classical Schools Foundation, a New Hampshire-based private charitable organization established to encourage schools offering classical education, has announced that it has selected Seacoast Classical Academy in Newton, New Hampshire, as its third “Sponsorship School.”  The Foundation’s Board praised Seacoast Classical Academy as an exciting new school destined to succeed and strongly rooted in its classical education curriculum.  As is ACTA’s practice with its “Sponsorship Schools,” the Foundation also awarded Seacoast Classical Academy a matching “challenge” grant to assist the school’s fund-raising campaign.

ACTA’s Mission is to support the growth of classical education by providing financial assistance, encouragement, and mentoring to new and early-stage public and private classical schools as the best hope to improve American education.

In announcing this latest “Sponsorship School” selection and “challenge” grant by ACTA, Board Chair Kim Lavallee highlighted the challenges facing new and early-stage classical schools.

“Seacoast Classical Academy overcame a major challenge in finding a suitable location for its school,” said Lavallee. “The Academy’s leadership showed both diligence and determination in tackling this challenge.  They got the job done, and now the Academy is completing its first year of operation.  ACTA is delighted to acknowledge this outstanding accomplishment.”

Board Chair Lavallee also pointed out that, as a chartered public school, Seacoast Classical Academy offers its families tuition-free educational choice.

“One of the terrific things about Seacoast Classical Academy is that it is available as an educational option for New Hampshire families regardless of their financial means,” commented Lavallee. “Offering students a tuition-free classical education provides a remarkable opportunity for them to succeed without placing a financial burden on their families.”

Board Chair Lavallee noted that ACTA is already off to a fast start in fulfilling its mission to help classical schools working through their founding and early-stage processes.

“In just five months, ACTA has identified Lionheart Classical Academy in Peterborough, New Hampshire as a ‘Model School’ and chosen St. George Classical Academy in Boxford, Massachusetts, Trinity Classical Academy in Portsmouth, Virginia and now Seacoast Classical Academy as ‘Sponsorship Schools,’” noted Lavallee, who added, “Each such designation comes with grants and incentives to help new and early-stage classical schools manage their start-up expenses.”

ACTA is continuing its review of other classical schools and will award financial support to selected schools through grants.  It anticipates announcing additional “Model Schools,” “Sponsorship Schools,” and grants within the next month.
