Red Town Voting Machine Breaks Down After Poll Opens

I’ve been collecting reports from folks who have ventured out early to vote. Belmont has already reported a machine down (7:09 am). Folks have been asked to put their ballots in the hand-counting bin. So much for scolding voters who request that, eh?

Belmont, NH

The AG office and SoS had made a big deal about not wanting to accept hand-counting requests, and now this.

Just spoke to the Poll watcher who is on site in Belmont. Machine still down and they are dispatching another ballot collection box from Salem since the one they have is almost full.

I am told that Belmont is a Republican town. Is it interesting that the fully prepped and tested AccuVote machine died shortly after voting began this morning? And how bad is that? A lot of folks want their ballots hand-counted, so there you go. Except that there’s no plan in place for securing those ballots in this situation.

Early turnout at my polling place in Merrimack is quite Impressive. Mike Rogers lives in town now, and we share the same location. He’s been; I’ve not gone yet. Mike reports long lines and traffic back-ups all around the school and on the roads feeding it.
