Teachers’ Union Broke Election Law to Keep Taking Your Money

CONCORD, NH – The Committee to Elect House Republicans filed a complaint today with the Attorney General’s Election Law Unit, charging that NEA-New Hampshire broke state election law in its campaign to kill Question 2, the cap on your property taxes.

The union bankrolled tens of thousands of dollars into its own political fund and won’t say where the money came from. State law requires groups that hide their donors to say so on every piece of mail and every ad. The union’s mail and ads don’t.

“The union broke election law to keep taking more and more money from Granite Staters with no accountability,” said Jason Osborne, Chairman of the Committee to Elect House Republicans. “They hid who’s paying, they ignored the rules every other group follows, and they did all of it to keep your property taxes going up. If the union is willing to break the law to protect its blank check, imagine what it does with your money once it has it.”

“Question 2 is a common-sense approach to put a limit on how fast your property taxes can grow. The union will continue to use scare tactics to preserve their blank check.”

Granite Staters are sick and tired of runaway property tax bills, and the union’s illegal bullying won’t scare them away from supporting a reasonable limit. Vote yes on Question 2 on November 3rd.
