MACDONALD: We Got Us a New Fact-Checker in NH

Manchester Ink Link has been around for a few years, with a Nashua version added more recently, which, based on reader input, has tarnished the brand a bit, though that was inevitable. But we’re happy to have them around in case we need some long-hanging fruit, and what could be more low-hanging than this?

The Granite State News Collaborative, which includes Ink Link, has announced this gem.

The Granite State News Collaborative is, for the most part, a progressive echo chamber made up of “news sources” that still haven’t apologized for getting almost everything wrong during COVID. If they did, I missed it, so I’d say “a hard maybe” that any claims of misfeasance have evolved into malfeasance, with malfeasance as the default setting on that topic.

And this isn’t their only sin, so it will be interesting to see what exactly they have to say about anything, especially campaigns, ads, statements, and the like.

Will they be like the other “media” fact-checkers and let their ideological capture show? I’m kind of betting on that. The odds are good we’ll be taking them to the woodshed where they can help us stack the actual facts.

But yes, we will give them credit if and when they get it right. Assuming I remember to check out the latest fact-checks.

Currently, they have zero, and they may never even do one. Someone needs to submit one first, so might I suggest the Pappas’ and Shaheen lies about Medicaid and drug cuts, or how Chris Pappas will cut taxes and defend small businesses.

You’ll have to find the ads yourself, but have at it. They are out there.

Test them out. See how they do.

And stay tuned.
