MAXWELL: Jason Gerhard for Sheriff of Merrimack County

I first heard about Jason Gerhard when I lived in Australia in 2007. He was persuaded of the illegality of Amendment 16 regarding Federal income tax, and went to federal prison for it. Later I came to New Hampshire and found out that Jason is as sober as I am. That is, he depends on constitutionality. He’s the only person I know who celebrates Article 83 of the New Hampshire State Constitution:

“Free and fair competition in the trades and industries is an inherent and essential right of the people and should be protected against all monopolies  and conspiracies which tend to hinder or destroy it.”  [Emphasis added]

Gerhard recently served a term in the NH Legislature, and on Sept 8, 2026, hopes to be picked as the Republican nominee for Merrimack County – as sheriff. I have written a little song about him, to the tune of the Beverly Hillbillies. If you are not old enough to recall Jed Clampett, please go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwzaxUF0k18

          Merrimack’s Sheriff-Hopeful

Come and listen to a story about the Gerhard man.

His first name is Jason, and he’s got a helpful plan!

He knows where the law is bent.  He sees thru sneaky stuff

At 39 he’s done a lot. But he says  — “Not enough.”

A decade behind bars for standing up to I.R.S.

Constitution is his sword and shield. And we all know the rest.

Today he’s merely door-knocking. To get votes in Merrimack.

Some baddies — if he gets “Sheriff” — will have a heart attack.

His day job as a Carpenter has stood him in good stead.

He can count in millimeters, with his educated head.

His latest kick is reforming our State’s Grand Jury game.

Jason’s hobby is boxing.  —  You wouldn’t call him tame.

So get yourself to the polls on this September 8th

If you’re G.O.P. or libertarian, or even if you ain’t.

Your future’s going to rise if this courageous fellow’s elected.

Oh New Hampshire, New Hampshire  — will be per-fected!

The following was his Ballotpedia entry for State Rep in 2022:

“Holding Mega-Corporations Accountable to the Law:  Through judicial chicanery (i.e., judges selling us out), corporations have been given the status of gods. They are essentially immortal since they were given constitutional rights and recognized as persons in the late 1800s.

“We are now seeing the consequences of this through the growth of monopolies in all areas of the economy resulting in increasing prices and the loss of local businesses that can’t compete with international corporations which use their lobbyists to extract subsidies (corporate welfare) from taxpayers.”     [Emphasis added]

More recently, Jason has been in a bit of trouble for filming the judge in a court case. Jason is also complaining that officials have taken down his yard signs on the unlikely claim that they cause weeds (or something).

I think that if New Hampshire had at least 3 Republicans as strong as JG, we could probably clean up the whole country.  Oh, Young Ones, it is quite possible to have a USA full of integrity, idealism, and even care for people overseas.  It used to be normal.  I was there!  We were bursting with American pride, and the future was soooo bright.
