MACDONALD: Reader Mail

I get a lot of email. You’ll have heard that before. We get lots of stuff, and I’ve been more than public about how much stuff and how we can only ever use some of it. Time constraints, bandwidth, interest.

Every now and again, someone likes to send some insight into how much they dislike what we do. Hints, tips, suggestions, and then there’s stuff like this.

Hey Steve,

Just stumbled upon the page and let me just tell you, wow! I have never seen anything like this.

Just wow!

I would rather drag my balls though a mile of broken glass than ever read your words  or listen to you speak again. You are truly an embarrassment to the conservative movement and the Republican party. Just a whiny loser that was never picked for anything in their life. The fact that it appears you have been doing this for years shows that participation trophies should be a thing of the past.

Stick to the computer world, or maybe go back to UPS because this is just embarrassing.

Yours respectfully,

A disgusted America First Conservative

I find it fascinating that they hate what I do but know I worked at UPS (twenty years ago) and/or a computer company. Neither of those things is in my BIO.

Could you know that without having already dragged your balls through a mile of broken glass?

Maybe, if you knew that from some other source and stumbled onto what happens at GraniteGrok, only to experience the ideological equivalent of an aneurysm.

That happens. I don’t tell people outside the political community what I do because the environment is so toxic they might snap a gasket, and then I have to explain to the police why I had to use pepper spray, a taser, or brandish a firearm in self-defense. It really disrupts the evening.

Some people can’t just be friends or acquaintances outside of politics. That’s never happened, by the way, but you have to be prepared for it.

So, given the information at hand, I wonder what deep-state not-so-Republican-ish thing we dissed to set them off, assuming they aren’t lying about being an America First Conservative. We’re not here to please anyone but the ghosts of America’s Founders.

We piss off Republicans all the time. We piss off everyone at least once in a while. It comes with the territory, and that doesn’t bother me at all. It shouldn’t bother you. The point is to debate and discuss. Challenge the orthodoxy a little. Find the next best step toward more limited government that advances individual rights, liberty, and human flourishing.

And sometimes I get free and easy content I can share.

As for this incensed individual, don’t read or listen. Problem solved.

No, I didn’t bother to trace the email to anything. It’s probably disposable. Best of luck with whatever. And thanks for the input. We mean it when we say we want to hear from everybody. We also mean it when we say we reserve the right to publish anything you send us unless you ask us not to.

We welcome input. Encourage it. Feel free to tell me what you like or don’t like at steve@granitegrok.com.
