If you missed it, soon-to-be former Congressman wanna-be US Senator Chris ‘ sock-puppet’ Pappas is selling himself as a moderate. Before we cite any evidence to the contrary, let’s dissect why not lying about being a moderate might actually be worse for democrats.
The only moderate-ish Democrat in the Senate is John Fetterman, from Pennsylvania (votes with Dems 74% of the time), and his party hates him. He is a pariah, threatened by his own caucus and base. If he runs again in 2028, the Democrats will primary him.
Being a moderate Democrat in any caucus is an admission that you don’t, won’t, or can’t make any difference. Why would you elect that to any decision-making body? Well, you wouldn’t.
Because this is true, and very much so on the legislature of the State Sock-Puppet Papas claims he is running to represent, there is no guarantee that Chris can or would stick to his alleged moderate guns, if he actually had any. Being slightly less radical is no guarantee that you won’t get whipped to vote with the caucus, which is exactly what happened during his stint in the US House. And finally, if he defies his own personality, voting history, and the terrorist nature of Democrat politics, that more or less means his vote will be meaningless in a caucus that is anything but moderate, or worse, enabling Republicans and the Trump Agenda.
Pappas’ argument that he’s not like the other Dems is bullshit, and an insult to the other Dems, but much like Taqiyya, they forgive him for lying to get elected because, like Islam, it is permitted if it advances the radical cause.
As pointed out in NH Journal, the sock-puppet cites “resources” that lend a patina of middleishness, but the basis for this is irrelevant to the results. Co-sponsoring legislation, for example, that never goes anywhere or never will. It’s a head fake.
More.
Pappas also touts his score in CQ Roll Call’s annual Vote Studies analysis, which, he says in a press release, shows he “broke from his party in House votes more than 97% of other Democrats and is among the most independent members of the 118th Congress.”
And that’s true.
What the press release doesn’t mention is that, in the 118th Congress, Democrats almost never broke from their party. And so, while Pappas tied for No. 8 on the list of most renegade Democrats, he did so even as he voted with the Democratic majority 90% of the time.
Voting the Demo party line 9 times out of 10 isn’t moderate, and it is a well-known fact that when leadership whips votes, if a member needs to look a bit less radical, they do the math and give them a pass if they vote the other way on bills that probably don’t really matter, especially ones they know they can’t stop.
Another clue that Pappas is lying is that when Democrats have a majority, he votes with his party more than 99 out of 100 times.
During the 116th (2019–2020) and 117th (2021–2022) Congresses when Pelosi was speaker, Pappas voted with the Democratic Party majority more than 99% of the time.
99.x percent of anything is almost as far from moderate as you can get, and with democrats trying to reclaim a majority in the US Senate, given everything we know, Pappas won’t be moderate; he’ll be over 99% with the anti-American Democrats in Congress.
“Chris Pappas is a wolf in sheep’s clothing who voted with Nancy Pelosi 222 out of 223 times. The truth is he wants to raise your taxes, implement the Green New Deal, and make New Hampshire a sanctuary state,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.
It’s true that in 2025, Pappas’ bipartisan vote rate rose to 22%. But after Trump’s win and an apparent shift in American politics away from the Biden era, many Democrats decided to do some triangulation. In fact, Pappas’ 22% didn’t even put him into the top 20 of Democratic defectors.
I call him Chris “Sock-Puppet” Pappas because that’s what he is. He’s a sock puppet. Right now, “he’s saying, “whatever the DC donor class campaign factory says he must to win office. If he does, the DNC political class and Senate leadership will be the ones making his mouth move and deciding how he votes.
The last time I checked, and we don’t have to look far, that means nothing good for Granite Staters, their jobs, the economy, energy, crime, national security, spending, debt, election integrity, or border security.
Remember, Pappas had plenty of time to do or say something about all of that. He was in office when inflation was at its highest in decades. He helped funnel hundreds of billions into the corrupt Ukraine experiment to enrich the war machine and kleptocrats. Food was more expensive, gas was more expensive, and the democrat party liked it that way.
Eerily similar to the malaise of the Obama years because that’s all the left knows. There is no new America when Democrats are in office, and putting Chris Pappas in the US Senate will just make it that much harder to save America from an increasingly radical political left that Chris Pappas couldn’t bunk even if he was serious about it.
