Most people are already familiar with Americans for Prosperity (AFP), so it’s really not necessary to write a new book on them, but there are a few things to point out.
One does not need to be a card-carrying paid member to attend their free events, seminars, and workshops. These events are often generously catered. It’s also my observation that being on their email list is the result of an active decision to join it.
As for the unpleasantness about AFP, they honor and endorse politicians who are ENEMIES OF 91A. Tired of me talking about that? Let’s talk about something else, like that dirty money that the Joint Fiscal Committee voted to accept on 11/19/21. Karen Umberger voted the wrong way, and to AFP, she was still called a “Protector of Freedom” at their banquet a month later. Make that make sense! Then there’s the AFP endorsements of the WRONG candidates in up-ballot races. State senate, state rep, executive council, possibly all the way down to dog catcher, but definitely all the way up to Oval Office! How can we forget those daily big glossy junk mailers telling voters how much they think Trump sucks?
Now let’s look at what I will call a “Mini Me” version of AFP, and that’s Granite Solutions, founded by Uniparty establishment swamp rat “JoKe Sweeney.” We really must lure the distinguished Ed Mosca back to routine contributing to Granite Grok. He’s possibly the earliest and biggest outspoken critic of Rep Sweeney, a real housing bill madness zealot. Maybe I should even call Sweeney a “housing issue WHORE.” Many people remember me picketing Sweeney’s former senator, Chuck Morse, for voting the wrong way on 11/19/21. While I ultimately voted for Chuck in his primary against Kelly Ayotte, I did wave a sign calling him a “federal funds whore” outside plenty of his events prior to that. Maybe being a special interest whore on the wrong side of issues is “a Salem thing,” or maybe not.
I never signed up for Granite Solutions’ email list. They clearly got my name and email from a bought and sold database, which is not uncommon. I remember that first unsolicited email from them. It was Granite Solutions introducing itself with blase’ talking points touting conservative values and asking for money. But what exactly was the value in giving them money as opposed to giving money to another activist group? I remember the late great John Diefenbach emailing his sphere of influence with a “hey, look at this” message as though he was excited about Granite Solutions. I had to remind him that it’s really just Sweeney (and possibly some silent associates).
I thought about unsubscribing from the Granite Solutions email list, “just because.” Then I thought about the Art of War and how that book says, “know your enemy.” There’s also the related maxim that tells you to keep your friends close and keep your enemies even closer. For those reasons, I stayed on their email list and mostly ignored their routine messages that were mainly newsletters ending with a request for donations. Then came the Judge Will appointment.
If you don’t know what could possibly go wrong with Judge Will being promoted to the NH Supreme Court, please talk to JR and/or read his articles. Read Cornerstone’s articles. Talk to Melissa Blasek and the Rebuild group. No matter how much peripheral disagreement there might be among liberty groups on other issues, there is unity among them in opposing the appointment of Judge Will. Councilor Wheeler(just one vote in a body of 5) has already gone on record that he’s a NO vote. Guess what group is aggressively pushing for the confirmation of Judge Will? Granite Solutions.
Granite Solutions is being like a dog with a bone, promoting Judge Will’s appointment. There are routine emails being sent ad nauseam. When logic is being taught to kids, there’s a popular exercise that says, “if A = B and B is not C, then…” You know what I’m talking about. If all the liberty groups are a big NO on Judge Will and Granite Solutions is a zealous YES, then apply some logic to this, please. Then, answer the question of whether or not Granite Solutions is a real liberty group. Then think about AFP and their daily Trump-hating junk mail and compare a downsized version of that to Granite Solutions’ repetitive “support Judge Will” emails. Which one of them would Homer Simpson say most resembles Bart and Lisa asking him to take them to Mt Splashmore?
