We’ve got more than a few stories about sign stealers. Steal them, wreck them, deface them, especially Trump signs. Trump derangement syndrome is a “debilitating malady that deprives the aggrieved victim of the ability to think and act rationally.” Such was the case for Nick Moorhead, who was fined $310.00 after pleading guilty to campaign sign-stealing in Northfield.
WMUR reported on the judgment but left out an important detail. In fact, most of the media that parroted the report never mentions what sign was stolen, because that might suggest which party Mr. Moorhead is registered with.
On several occasions [Nick] Moorhead removed a political sign with the word “Trump” on it from a Northfield, N.H. resident’s yard, according to court documents.
The resident reported to police that two days in a row, on both August 27, and August 28, 2024 Moorhead was seen on camera taking the sign from the front yard and damaging it, according to a court affidavit.
The resident then reported to police that on September 15, 2024, Moorhead kicked the sign, which the resident had moved further onto their property under a window of their house. Moorhead then lifted his middle finger towards one of the homeowners, the affidavit continues.
Under the New Hampshire State Constitution, anyone found guilty of violating election law can lose their right to vote in the state. The AG hasn’t imposed this option often enough, in my estimation, or advertised it fully. I get a lot of emails about Republican signs vanishing and stealing or damaging political signs are violations of election law. Nick Moorhead sacrificed his right to vote on the altar of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s gone unless or until he begs the State Supreme Court to grant it back to him.
They can say F*ck off or not, and I suspect – so sacred is the right – that they’d wuss-out and let him have it back if he petitioned. I’d advise against it. Instead, make it an opportunity to orate on the increased prevalence of personal surveillance/doorbell cameras, game cameras, and very affordable, easy-to-obtain home security cameras (indoors and out). That the odds of getting caught on video are high, and that the AG should make a habit of enforcing the loss of the right to vote as a disincentive to campaign sign stealing.
Anyone with any sense will refrain, while the TDS patients will likely continue their rampage on anyone who supports Trump or whoever Trump endorses to succeed him.
Strip enough proglodytes of their vote, and even the Party might start holding struggle sessions (TDS Anonymous) to salvage its dwindling election-eligible numbers.
