Smith: Call Tara Reardon “Mrs Soprano”

Let’s get the “say something nice” part out of the way before the attack.  I met Community Loan Fund lobbyist Tara Reardon on 2/15/23 after a Senate Executive Departments committee hearing for a trailer park bill.  She supported what I said into the mic and followed me out into the hall and introduced herself when the hearing adjourned.  We had a nice talk about my neighborhood issues with park management and Kevin’s bill (SB 203).  An attorney, Tara became a great resource to consult, though I never retained her as my own.  She has always been nice to me and even said some kind words about Maureen Mooney when I waved to her as she came out of the stairwell while we were talking for the first time.  Tara had me duped.  Until I saw her on a list of Warmington endorsers, I had no idea that she was with the enemy camp and was the mayor’s wife!

Concord’s (former) First Lady and Tony Soprano’s wife have more in common than just blonde hair.  However, unlike Senator Tara Reardon’s dumb blonde predecessor, Comrade Senator Twitley, Tara is no dummy.  Just like Mayor Donchess, she knows the law and how to avoid it.  More on that in a moment, but let’s look at “Mr. Reardon,” aka former Mayor Jim Bouley, for a moment.  By the way, he’s now on the Ballot Law Commission, but he’s a lobbying firm partner, and one of their clients is the despicable NH Automobile Dealers Association(NHADA).

Another known (defense) attorney, Daryl Abbas, once pointed out that lobbyists and their firms are akin to lawyers and their firms in that it’s just a job.  Abbas said he wished all his clients were decent people, but he knows many of them are guilty and they’re just customers paying him.  Very well.  As a quick sidenote, I often want to mention that when Grokster Beth Scaer trashes the late great Clegg of Legislative Solutions for the unpopularity of some of their clients.  It’s just a job serving a paying customer, but “be that as it may,” to use the frequent words of Attorney Gens, Tara Reardon followed the law on paper, if you were to ask Scanlan to show you the records involving the NHADA.

Jeremy Olson, a supporter of HB649 (the motor vehicle inspection repeal bill), has called attention to the paperwork of Tara Reardon, who is a member of Senate Commerce.  Not only did she vote the wrong way, as expected, but she made some very unhelpful comments about older cars.  As a driver of an older car, I found “Senator Tara Reardon” in stark contrast to “lobbyist Tara Reardon,” whom I knew as a trailer park resident.

If you haven’t read The War on Cash, by David McRee, I recommend it, especially the chapter on “structuring.” This is the act of making bank transactions small enough to avoid the scrutiny of required paperwork, particularly the Currency Transaction Report (CTR).  If you click here, you will see that Tara Reardon’s paperwork shows $9999.99 on Page 2 as the NHADA amount paid to her husband’s firm.  How interesting is that!

And to “circle back,” as the dumb Raggedy Ann often said at the press room podium in 2021, that paperwork resembles the Sopranos episode where Mrs Soprano implements her exit plan.  Having had enough of Tony’s serial infidelity, she steals part of his petty cash supply while he’s in the shower and hides it in a utility pedestal in the yard, then later takes it to the bank.  When she presents her initial deposit for her newly opened account, the teller praises her for choosing the amount of $9900 and jokes about avoiding the law requiring him to file a CTR.

HB 649 is in the Senate and has no committee recommendation because Denise Ricciardi had to be the spoiler and vote with the Democrats.  Regardless of today’s outcome, there’s very little that can be done about Tara Reardon’s relationship to/with the NHADA.  There’s also one more legislative season before the next election, and she occupies that unwinnable seat once occupied by Comrade Feltes, another far-left attorney.

Readers, especially my harshest critics, might be thinking, “So what?” I remind them that dirty money and tweaked paperwork are not limited to just one senator or one side of the aisle. Consider yourselves informed.
