Greetings, ‘Grok fans, I wanted to take a moment to provide some updates on ‘Grok-related things. The first is a reported issue with Cloudflare blocking reader access to the website. Cloudflare is a layer of protection on the server/host side that we never see, but a recent update caused an issue for at least one regular visitor. I didn’t even know that was there until they said, ‘Hey, what the (you know what) is this? ‘
I thought, ‘I don’t know, I’ll ask around. ‘
If Cloudflare notifies you, update your browser to the latest version to resolve the issue. Older versions of Firefox, in particular, can be sensitive.
I hope You Had a Happy Easter! The Easter bunny or one of its helpers was in the yard last night. Cosmo ran him off and almost took my arm with him. But there was still a new Keurig Coffee Maker waiting for me on top of a basket with some Easter grass in it this morning. My coffee-drinking children are amusing.
The old one was acting up, and this place runs on Java, so we should be set for the next few years.
The Petition on House Bill 649, relating to vehicle inspections, is still active. The Senate may be moving on it this week, so we want to send that by Tuesday. If you haven’t signed it and agree with it, please do so now.
We have also received sporadic reports of page layout issues on certain browsers related to the automated ads we run. I’ve pared back almost all of that to address this. If you still experience the problem, try using an ad blocker, and then [PLEASE!] check a few of the sidebars or the in-text ads. I gave up revenue to try to improve the experience, but technology doesn’t run on air.
Also, if you have a business or an event, group, or other initiative you’d like to promote or advertise, we offer competitive rates and need to replace lost ad revenue—email steve@granitegrok.com.
Regarding ads, Patriot Supply reached out to ask if we would like to be an affiliate, and I agreed. You’ll have seen the save up to 70% sale ads all over. You will keep seeing these kinds of ads. That sale ends Monday night, not Sunday, by the way, I got that wrong. Check the link. There are discounts available in every department, and we will manually place other Patriot Supply ads moving forward.
Up To 70% Off Food, Survival, Generators, Water –Sale Ends Monday Night
Grok is still also an Amazon Affiliate. If you see an ad, click on it and take a look around. Maybe buy something, you were going to buy from Amazon anyway, and we get a few nickels in our cup.
Unrelated to ads but still advertising, I am speaking at the Sullivan County Lincoln-Reagan Dinner on May 3rd. You can support them and me (it’ll be nice to see a good crowd) by buying tickets for the dinner.
Our latest fundraiser needs your support. We don’t charge for promoting groups or events through published op-eds or press releases that drive traffic to them. The news, politics, and opinion are free, as are the podcasts, but as you know, it costs us a lot to provide all of this, and inflation has made it harder to give as we are paying even more to run it. We need you and your support. Whatever you can give helps. 3$, 5$, 500.00. A low-dollar monthly subscription or a larger one-time payment can help us meet the request we’ve made to cover bare minimum operating expenses. We need to raise the money, period, and thanks to those who give regularly and have given recently.
And as a reminder, many of the “websites” that share local news stories, reporting, or opinion (right, center, and left) are based outside the state. They may have people working here, but their operational parent is elsewhere. Our state of incorporation is New Hampshire. Grok Media LLC (that’s me) is in the Granite State- if that matters.
A few non-donation ways you can help? Share the content on social media – it’s become easier since Trump was re-elected. Click on the ads we do have. Go to Whatfinger.com, search for Grok content, and click on it there. More clicks mean they are more likely to share our content, which in turn grows audience traffic, clicks, and (a bit more) ad revenue. It also helps us increase our Page and Domain authority, which allows us to charge more for sponsored content.
Did I mention, click the ads. You don’t have to buy, but you may want to – in which case, stop, and donate that to us directly. It’ll do a lot more good than a small percentage of the sale, or do both.
And please keep reading.
Thanks!
