Some things are just too funny not to share—funny, ha hah, not funny odd. What is odd is the testimony of Suzy Colt, a resident in a town served by the White Mountain Regional School District (WMRSD). If you missed it, WMRSD has been considering whether to ignore state law and Federal Title IX by allowing boys to continue to play in girls’ sports.
I don’t know that there are any in that district, but that’s not the point. WMRSD ignored state law in the past, and after challenges to Biden’s proposed changes, the previous president dropped them. Mr. Trump reaffirmed Title IX after his inauguration. No boys are allowed in girls’ sports, regardless of their feelings.
The WMRSD board’s review of the policy got kicked down the road after their last school board meeting. They intended to address it last night, which attracted a larger-than-usual crowd. When it was Suzy’s turn to speak, she opened with a question. She asked anyone who had never struggled with their identity to please stand up.
There was a pause during which seemingly disinterested observers suddenly heard the question, and everyone in the audience stood up. Everyone.
It’s a little embarrassing. No one in the audience ever questioned their identity. That doesn’t stop Suzy, and if you’d like to hear her pro-trans boilerplate, jump to the 9:50 mark and let it roll. It’s only 3 minutes of torture. Jump back to 6 min to hear the previous speaker who has the opposing view. Others follow Suzy. Surf as suits your interest.
Suzy has what she thinks is a well-thought-out argument, but it has an impossible task. Gender has to be on a spectrum, and people can change it at will. This is both gospel and verse from the book of Genders. There is no root nor any sapling to yank from the ground unless you mean the drugging and surgery on children too young to understand any of it by adults who may have some mental illness of their own. Munchausen by Proxy comes to mind.
De-transitioning would not exist were this not true.
Ripping anything from the ground before it has developed is therefore impossible because there is no “final form.” Suzy is thus a bigot for suggesting otherwise – or at least failing to acknowledge it as part of the community worldview.
A boy can identify as a girl to beat girls at sports or just to beat girls, deny them victories, trophies, medals, and then decide he’s not a girl. Until recently, he could take scholarships they might have earned and spots on college teams that those girls worked hard for and deserved.
At no point would it have been improper for those boys to transition to any of the other three dozen “genders,” including just being a boy again (or perhaps by now a man).
At no point in this journey are they required to stop feeling attracted to the girls with whom they share intimate spaces. You cannot, after all, help who you fall in love with (that’s their line, not mine), therefore you cannot stop boys pretending to be girls from “loving” girls who lack their anatomy. Being aroused around them, partially or entirely undressed, is acceptable, and the girls aren’t permitted to object until they are abused or raped.
Boys or men who pretend these things to gain access to further a sexual kink, or to commit assault or rape, cannot be filtered out in advance. That would be bigoted, too. So, when Suzy gets wound up about individual or constitutional rights, it is no surprise she can’t find time for those of the girls forced to take part in these arrangements without their consent. Girls and women who, if they dare to object, are labeled as intolerant bigots for having concern for their well-being.
The fact that liberal women are often the biggest proponents of this risk would be astonishing if they were not already advocating for every other crazy thing Democrats believe. Liberal white women being the worst of the lot.
[Update]
First, a Correction: With apologies to Suzy whose last name is Colt. An Earlier version of this story had her last name as Cole.
Second, I failed to mention that the board voted 5-1 to amend the policy, bringing WMRSD into compliance with state law and Title IX as currently interpreted. No boys in girls sports.
