The Credibility of Citizens Alliance

Another special interest group, Citizens Alliance, has released a legislative scorecard today.  Like others that the Grokster known as “Spike” has said I’ve “gone scorched earth on,” this group is no different.  There are 68 reps in their “good standing” category.  Of those 68, 18 are enemies of 91A.  Without further delay, here they are:

  • Aures
  • Bean
  • Edwards
  • Gerhard
  • Harrington
  • Harvey
  • Hobson
  • Kuttab (sponsor of HB 1002)
  • Love
  • McGough
  • Moffett
  • Notter
  • Pauer
  • Potucek
  • Terry
  • True
  • Verville
  • Walsh

According to the database, all 18 took “The (Citizens Alliance) Pledge,” and need a reminder of the 7th bullet point because they pledged the following words:

“As a legislator, I will vote to expand education freedom and transparency.”

To both Citizens Alliance and those 18 reps, I present the following scenario:

Suppose that Grokster Ann Marie Banfield submits a request that now qualifies for the RTK tax, and she gets charged for it as per HB 1002.  Was voting for HB 1002 “voting to expand education freedom AND TRANSPARENCY?”

There’s also a scorecard for the Senate, a body that’s been a big abject disappointment in their failure to block bad House bills, such as HB 1002, in addition to Mr Sylvia’s prior complaint of being a place where good House bills go to die.  In case anyone is interested, 23 are in bad standing, and the lone wolf with “questionable standing” status is Senator Murphy.

I will finish by saying something nice.  They gave Rep Emily Phillips “good standing” status, so it will be nice to see that green shield logo next to her name on “the other side of the wall” next year.  Don’t forget to donate and remind like minded District 23 voters of the primary two Tuesdays from now on September 10.
