The Good Guys

Previous issues of the RINO Report highlighted the terrible voting records of five RINOs in the upcoming primaries. This issue highlights some of the Good Guys who deserve to be reelected. These candidates are selected based on their RINO scores and their HRA scores.

Belknap 5 (Laconia 1, 3, 4, 5, 6) has a 5 for 4 primary with an easy choice. There is one excellent Rep, one very bad RINO, and three other candidates. Dawn Johnson has a record that is as good as it gets. Her Rino score is perfect – she cast zero Rino votes in her two years. And her HRA score was a perfect 100% in both years. She is listed at the bottom of the ballot but votes “right” at the top of all Republicans.

Continuing in alphabetical order from Dawn we have Richard Littlefield, who scored about the middle of all Republicans, then Sheri Minor who is a newcomer but could hardly be as bad as RINO Mike Bordes. The fourth one worth a vote is Steven Bogert who is in the bottom 20% of Republicans, which is much better than Bordes.

Belknap 6 (Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia 2) has a 6 for 4 primary. There are three Good Guys, one mediocre, one newcomer, and one RINO. The three Good Guys are Glen Aldrich, Harry Bean, and Russell Dumais.

  • Aldrich had three years with perfect Rino scores and two years with perfect HRA scores.
  • Bean had perfect Rino scores all six years and perfect HRA scores for four years.
  • Dumais had three perfect Rino scores and one perfect HRA score.
  • Ronnie Abbott is the newcomer.
  • Richard Beaudoin has a mediocre four-year record, just a little worse than the middle of all Republicans.
  • Either Abbott or Beaudoin would be a reasonable choice as the fourth candidate. Both likely would vote better than RINO David Nagel.

Belknap 7 (Alton, Barnstead) has a 4 for 3 primary. There is one excellent Rep, two good, and one newcomer.

  • Paul Terry had three perfect Rino scores and two perfect HRA scores.
  • Barbara Comtois had about average Rino scores – two perfect, two poor, four average. Her HRA scores were excellent, with six perfect scores.
  • Peter Varney’s Rino scores were excellent – seven were perfect. His HRA scores were a bit better than average.
  • Brianna Weller is the newcomer, about whom I can find nothing.

Hillsborough 2 (Bedford) has an 8 for 7 primary. There is one Good Guy, two about average, and five newcomers.

  • Kristin Noble had two years with perfect Rino scores and one perfect HRA score.
  • Linda Gould had excellent Rino scores (six perfect), but only average HRA scores.
  • Ted Gorski had one perfect Rino score but overall was about average, as were his HRA scores.
  • The newcomers are too many to list.

Merrimack 4 (Loudon, Canterbury) has a 3 for 2 primary. There is one Good Guy, one good, and one newcomer.

  • Jose Cambrils had one perfect Rino score but overall was about average. His HRA scores were perfect all four years.
  • Michael Moffett also had one perfect Rino score but overall was about average. He had two perfect HRA scores; his other four were above average.
  • Carolyn Virtue had one term as a Democrat (1999-2000). That was a long time ago and people do change. I am told from two reliable sources that she is now a good Republican.

Merrimack 13 (Pittsfield, Chichester) has a 3 for 2 primary. There are two excellent Reps, and one newcomer.

  • The two Good Guys are Cyril Aures and Clayton Wood, who together took out a terrible RINO a couple of years ago.
  • Aures had perfect Rino scores and perfect HRA scores both years.
  • Wood had perfect Rino scores for both years, and had one perfect HRA score.
  • Those two are so good that I won’t even mention the newcomer.

Rockingham 4 (Raymond) has a 6 for 3 primary. There is one excellent Rep, one mediocre, one poor, and three newcomers.

  • Mike Drago is the Good Guy. He had one perfect Rino score, one near perfect Rino score, and two near perfect HRA scores. Just three switched votes would have given him four perfect scores.
  • Tim Cahill had mediocre Rino and HRA scores.
  • Kevin Pratt started oft average, but got steadily worse. This year he was in the 10 worst RINOs, and his HRA score was in the bottom 10%.
  • The newcomers are Brian Nadeau, Cindy Bennett, and John O’Blenis.
  • Mike Drago, Brian Nadeau, and Cindy Bennett apparently are running as a team; AFP is doing a mailer for them.

Rockingham 13 (Derry) has an 11 for 10 primary. There are two excellent Reps, one good, seven mediocre, and one newcomer.

  • Erica Layon and David Love are the Good Guys. Erica has four perfect Rino scores, and one perfect HRA score. David has five perfect Rino scores, and one perfect HRA score.
  • John Potucek had seven perfect Rino scores. His HRA scores were a little above average.
  • The other Reps are all mediocre, a little below average but not really bad.
  • The newcomer, James Dietzel, could be better than any of the mediocre Reps.

Rockingham 16 (Londonderry) has a 10 for 7 primary. There are two good Reps, five about average, and three newcomers.

  • Kristine Perez has one perfect Rino score, and two near perfect HRA scores.
  • Ron Dunn has two perfect Rino scores, and two better than average HRA scores.
  • Douglas Thomas has eight perfect Rino scores, and one poor. His HRA scores are slightly above average.
  • Sherman Packard, as Speaker, doesn’t vote often but he has nine perfect Rino scores. His HRA scores are below average.
  • Wayne MacDonald had three years with bad Rino scores and below average HRA scores. In 2023 he had a perfect Rino score and an above average HRA score.
  • David Lundgren and Tom Dolan have had below average Rino scores and HRA scores.
  • Eric Cooper, Joseph Gagnon, and Moira Ryan are the newcomers. They could be better or worse than the incumbents.

Rockingham 30 (Seabrook) has a 4 for 2 primary. There is one good former Rep, two bad Reps, and a newcomer.

  • William Fowler had two perfect Rino scores. His HRA scores were a little above average.
  • Jason Janvrin and Aboul Khan both had below average Rino scores and HRA scores.
  • Matt Sabourin dit Choinière is the newcomer. His platform (https://matt4nh.com/platform/) sounds good.

Rockingham 32 (Fremont, Brentwood, Danville) has a 2 for 1 primary. There is one excellent Rep, and a mediocre former Rep.

  • Scott Wallace is the Good Guy. He had five perfect Rino scores, and three perfect HRA scores.
  • Melissa Litchfield had two years of mediocre Rino and HRA scores.

Sullivan 6 (Claremont, Croydon) has a 5 for 3 primary. There is one excellent former Rep, and four newcomers.

  • Emily Sandblade had one perfect Rino score and one perfect HRA score.
  • The newcomers are Luke Diamond, Wayne Hemingway, Tom Luther, and Robert Merrill.
