MACDONALD: And He’s a Lousy Eleanor Roosevelt

The NHGOP dropped a press release on how the NHDems got screwed by their party (FITN), and their consolation prize was Pete Buttigieg. And yes, he may have been the worst transportation secretary in modern history, but let’s add some perspective, right after this.

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Scott Maltzie released the following statement in response to the announcement by New Hampshire Democratic Party that former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will headline its Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner:

“Pete Buttigieg was a bad Mayor, a dangerously awful Transportation Secretary, and will be a horrible Presidential candidate,” said NHGOP Chairman Scott Maltzie. “The DNC stole the First-in-the-Nation Primary from New Hampshire, and now their consolation prize to New Hampshire Democrats is dumping Pete Buttigieg on their marquee dinner. It speaks to how little national Democrats think of New Hampshire voters.”

“Granite Staters haven’t forgotten his record as Transportation Secretary. From the holiday travel meltdown that stranded millions of travelers to an EV charging program that fell far behind schedule, Buttigieg left behind a disastrous record.”

“Chris Pappas supported the same agenda in Congress. Now, Pappas wants a promotion to the United States Senate, and New Hampshire Democrats are bringing in another failed national Democrat in the hopes that he can boost Pappas’ chances in November.”

Forget presidential candidate. Mayor Pete would make a terrible first lady. And given that this is the Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner, that seemed a point worth making. It might also be worth mentioning that this dinner used to be called something else.

Prior to 2016, it was called the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. At some point after the name change, an office flunky must have blurted out, but they were both slaveowners, so whoops. Need to change the name. To what? Kennedy-Clinton, but that only lasted until 2018, perhaps because both men were notorious cheats, philanderers and/or accused rapists.

Keep in mind, these awkward fundraising dinner names did not stop Democrats from attending and supporting the party that chose them.

I suggested they name it the Weiner -Weinstein dinner, but they opted not to use that one.

One more point. The keynote speaker at the last installment of the Kennedy-Clinton dinner was progressive bad-boy, Alec Baldwin.

It was then that the NH Dems decided to stop naming it after troublesome Democrat men and chose Eleanor Roosevelt. Safe enough, though long before anyone knew her well enough to name a dinner after her, her Democratic husband had cheated on her.

Something about Democrat men, or is it Democrat women-a question well worth consideration.

Eleanor was very independent and progressive, and she married her cousin, so more like Platner’s replacement than Mayor Pete. But Eleanor appears to have been a lesbian, hating intimacy with her husband and later falling for a female reporter to whom she wrote scandalous letters.

So, they sort of, kind of, have something in common. Not that this is a prerequisite for being the keynote at a dinner. But being woke might be, and Eleanor appears to have been ahead of the curve.

History remembers Eleanor relatively well. Mayor Pete would have to do a lot differently to have a similar fate.
