Harris stopped being the VP on Jan 20th, 2025. “Under federal law, former vice presidents are entitled to Secret Service protection for exactly six months after leaving office.” If the Mail had an honest bone in their body, they’d say that President Trump allowed Secret Service (SS) protection for former VP Kamala Harris for two months longer than was statutorily required.
Imagine if it was so she could make other housing arrangements that were more secure. What if, indeed. It wasn’t, but it could have been reported that way.

I’m guessing Emhoff spends more time at the old place. The one that was harder to secure (wink-wink). Or maybe they’re just busy being who they are instead of a couple. It’s hard to say, given how easily reporters abruptly yank the truth out from under their own reporting to score cheap points with partisans who will ape the lie without bothering to learn the truth.

One other point worth mentioning. If you search non-partisan, non-Google-affiliated search engines, you won’t find any evidence of “threats against Kamala” at any point after her election. If you ask unrepentant partisan Google, you get this.

Well, maybe it did. If you actually visit the BBC piece, there’s no there there. Before they left the office, the Auto Pen authorized a year’s worth of protection instead of the standard six months for no reason anyone could actually identify.
Nothing recent.
Several men were arrested and charged with making online threats against her in 2024, for example, and in 2021, a Florida woman pleaded guilty to making threats against Harris and admitted she sent videos to her imprisoned husband in which she displayed firearms and said that a “hit” could be carried out within 50 days.
Nothing since she lost the election. Nothing at all. Which means they didn’t buy the Malibu house for security reasons; they bought it because they are one-percenters who like the beach and the company and who could afford it. How much time they spend there together isn’t nearly as interesting as the bullshit regurgitated to sustain a lie. SS probably advised Trump she didn’t need it; there was zero evidence of any risk or threat, and he decided to save the taxpayers some money.
After all the dough Team Biden wasted, and we’re still uncovering it and may never truly know, it’s the least Kamala could do, especially since she and Doug have more than enough to pay for their own. If you were a democrat, taxing their wealth, they’ve got assets in excess of 20 million.
