Ilhan Omar is no stranger to controversy. Like many a Squad member, she invites it. It amps her Q rating with cat-litter-lugging divorced liberal wine moms. Karens, AWFLs, they love that stuff. It makes someone committed to creating an American Despotism, possibly even a Theocratic one, look like she’s a rebel fighting the system.
The only systems Omar is fighting are the Constitutional Republic that prevents her and her ilk from trampling on your rights and the financial disclosure rules for members of Congress, especially the progressive voting variety.
Her latest act of hubris is the reassessment of her reported net worth. Her other squaddie bros are hiding their wealth accumulation, sort of, sometimes, but Omar appears to have attempted to be honest about it, if you can call it that.
Omar’s 2025 financial disclosure to Congress initially claimed a net worth of between $6 million and $30 million, figures much higher than previous disclosures.
The difference between 6 million and 30 million is a significant gray area, but not an uncommon act of hypocrisy. Democrats are, after all, the party of “tax investments at the highest possible estimable value.” If veracity or integrity were, in fact, things they were capable of, she’d say 30 mill give or take. Turns out she misspelled 95K.
The left-wing Democrat from Minnesota filed an amended version that claimed a net worth of only $95,000 after being questioned by the Office of Congressional Compliance, the Wall Street Journal reported. Dan Geltrude, who founded Geltrude & Company in 1995, told Asman that ultimately Omar was “responsible” for what was on the form.
Maybe to a CPA who lives in a world of numbers, where numbers with signatures are real and tangible things.
“Let’s call this for what it is: When a Congressperson has to file these financial disclosure forms, they are signing them and by signing them, what are they saying? They are true, complete and accurate to the best of their knowledge,” Geltrude said. “So, are you telling me that she didn’t notice that her net worth went from 100,000 to 30 million? Don’t blame the accountant. You can’t say you don’t know. Your signature on that form holds you legally accountable.”
Congress is not the real world, and Omar is only in as much danger as her Republican colleagues have the spine and balls to pursue. Democrats have made it clear that everyone from the president, his Cabinet, all the way down to ICE agents, following orders they are happy to reframe as illegal, are in the crosshairs if they get back into power. Members of Congress are somewhere in between, and Omar’s district is a safe liberal ghetto from which she can get reelected for life if it suits her to do so.
Plenty of money in her future as a lifetime member of Congress, so why not just roll the dice on the expectation that Democrats will defend her and Republicans are too chicken to make it an issue?
During the Biden administration, the Justice Department probed how Omar’s wealth jumped since she entered Congress, particularly due to income received by her husband, a lobbyist with whom she reportedly had an extramarital affair in 2019. Omar also faced a complaint to the Federal Election Commission alleging she used campaign funds to pursue the fling with the lobbyist, whom she later married.
None of that stuck to her, so Congress isn’t likely to do much with this unless there is a right-side-minded Lois Lerner at the IRS willing to leak Omar’s tax returns to the public. If you recall, Democrats are often concerned about the actual wealth, assets, and financial activity of Republicans (especially with the last name Trump). If it seems to waste millions on victimless crimes in pursuit of indictments and judgments that might disqualify a Republican for higher office, it makes sense the same ought to apply to Omar.
Equity. Equality. Yadda Yadda.
Liberal privilege, of course, shields Omar, and she’s confident enough in that to do something as retarded as expecting everyone to accept that she misspelled 95 K and accidentally wrote 30 million.
Anyone who tries to pull that wool over your eyes in her name should get audited, too.
