MORIN: Pretti, The Hypocrisy of Gabby Giffords & Her Gun Control Org

The hypocrisy of Gabby Giffords and her gun control organization are out in the public for everyone to see today. Gun controller Giffords decided to weigh in on the Pretti shooting during the riots in Minneapolis. It seems she forgets what her own organization has written against carrying firearms at protests just a few months ago. From X:

It’s obvious her words are absolute b.s. and her own organization specifically states the following on their website:

Firearms in and around democratic environments threaten not only public safety but also the integrity and trust in our most fundamental political processes.

The presence of guns at protests and demonstrations not only chills the exercise of our fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of speech and assembly, it also makes people more likely to be shot. In large gatherings of people, especially when emotions and tensions flare, the risk of violence increases when people are armed. A 2021 study found that demonstrations involving at least one armed individual turn violent or destructive 16% of the time, and armed demonstrations are nearly six times as likely to turn violent or destructive compared to unarmed demonstrations. The study also found that armed protests account for less than 2% of the total number of demonstrations in the US, yet they account for 10% of all violent or destructive demonstrations.1

Giffords is suddenly claiming to be for the 2nd Amendment at protests?

Her organization, ‘Giffords Law Center,’ also weighed in and pretended like they’ve never written the above before. From USA Today:

At an event in Iowa on the same day, Trump reiterated that the shooting was “very unfortunate” but that, “I don’t like that he had a gun.”

It’s a “pretty sharp flip-flop,” said Emma Brown, executive director of GIFFORDS, an organization headed by former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords that advocates for gun reform

But she and others said it’s also created a rare moment in which people on all sides of the gun debate have found common ground in criticizing suggestions that Pretti, a licensed gun owner, should not have been carrying one while interacting with law enforcement or attending a protest against the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement operation.

“I think that the tension isn’t between the First and Second Amendment as much as it is between the Trump administration and the Constitution in this moment,” Brown said.

From X:

The absolute irony and hypocrisy of these women is insanely ridiculous, but when aren’t gun controllers insanely ridiculous?

And to be clear, Trump and his Administration are wrong on this subject. You have the right to carry a firearm to protect yourself, whether it’s at a protest, rally, or the grocery store.

You DO NOT; however, have the right to interfere with, impede, or get into physical altercations with law enforcement. Only an absolute moron does that any time, but especially while carrying. The intentions of the person carrying are completely unknown in that moment. Split second assumptions are made that can end up deadly. That is not a ‘justification’ for Pretti’s death, it’s smack-you-in-the-face REALITY.

Giffords and her clown org would do best to sit this one out. They have zero to say about our 2nd Amendment rights considering they spend millions around the country trying to take those rights away.
