MACDONALD: Gov. Union Boss to Dems – Pass a Clean CR, Today!

BREAKING NEWS: American Federation of Government Employees President Everett Kelley, who represents 820,000 displaced government workers, has called it like his union sees it. This is Congress’s fault, and Dems need to support a clean CR.

He wants the government reopened and for Democrats to stop punishing government employees.

In a statement issued Monday, American Federation of Government Employees President Everett Kelley demanded an end to the shutdown.

“This week, Congress pushed our nation into the fourth week of a full government shutdown — an avoidable crisis that is harming families, communities, and the very institutions that hold our country together,” Kelley wrote, thereby correctly noting that Congress, not President Donald Trump, holds the government’s purse strings. “Both political parties have made their point, and still there is no clear end in sight.”

The AFGE president then called upon Congress to do what Republican legislators have repeatedly done: vote for a clean continuing resolution.

“Today I’m making mine: it’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today,” Kelley added. “No half measures, and no gamesmanship. Put every single federal worker back on the job with full back pay — today.”

Will Senator Schumer bend or break? Can he prevent his caucus, members of the so-called party of Unions, from ignoring the voice of over 800,000 union employees? Is he that convinced that if unhinged wing-nut Sandy Cortez runs against him, he can’t beat her?

That seems to be the only thing keeping Chickie Schmuer awake at night. Not air traffic safety or our military getting paid, or single moms not being able to feed their kids. None of that has moved him off his pedestal.

We shall see soon enough.

And no, I do not like the idea of every government employee getting full back pay for sitting at home, but the contracts, rules, or the law seem to require it. Talk about an incentive to shirng government.
