MACDONALD: Kamala Harris Reminds Us Why She Lost

Kamala Harris is out pimping her book 107 Days, which, despite excellent pre-sale numbers and multiple #1 rankings (at least on Amazon), has arrived to little acclaim and a lot of Democrat grousing.

They say Harris’s memoir, “107 Days,” which will be out publicly Tuesday, comes at a time when the party is attempting to find its way out of the wilderness after a devastating election loss nearly a year ago.

The book, some Democrats say, is exacerbating the tension that has been plaguing Democrats.

“Salt, meet wound,” one Democratic strategist put it. “Couldn’t come at a worse time for our party.

“Let’s keep rehashing everything, it’s really good for us,” the strategist said sarcastically. “Let’s pick new fights. Why not?”

“It is a curiously negative and ungracious tome for someone who reportedly thinks she can run again in 2028,” [Democratic strategist Gary] South added.

What supporters are marketing as a look at the hurdles Kamala had to face, it seems likely the book fails to address the biggest one of all. Kamala Harris. As evidenced by her stellar performance on Maddow, as part of her book tour.

Content warning: you have to listen to the sound of Kamala Harris’s voice if you click play.

Both The Hill article and The Daily Signal suggest this is a rehab campaign for a 2028 run, but Harris has already said she isn’t going to run in 2028. I suppose she might have been lying when she said it. She has done a lot of that, and in the book, if we are to take the reactions of Democrats to it seriously. They don’t seem to recall the situations she describes in quite the same way.

It could just be a matter of psychopathic narcissists butting egos. Still, the overarching issue is that Kamala Harris isn’t going to win the nomination if she runs again. Democrats in leadership don’t like her and will give her the Bernie treatment if she does even moderately well with the base in the primary (I still don’t think she’s running). Then there is her memoir, which, based on the buzz so far, is generally viewed as another wedge, evoking the division in her party that lingers like the sword of Damocles over their mid-term election chances.

Her incoherent public appearances are just another reminder of how she was the only Plan B they had when it became clear they couldn’t drag President Cabbage and his autopen across the finish line, even if they cheated. Given other options, including people she turned down for VP who were better canidates for the top of the ticket if they’d had name recognition, she can cash her checks from the publisher, and if she’s smart (and we know she’s not) enjoy early retirement with her woman-abusing husband(Doug!) and the 6-10 million they are estimated to be worth.
