MACDONALD: Left-Wing Discrimination Is Okay ‘cuz Reasons

The Trump Administration just froze nearly $600 million in federal grants to UCLA for failing to address antisemitism on Campus.

The announcement was made after the Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a July 29 statement that UCLA violated the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act by “acting with deliberate indifference in creating a hostile educational environment for Jewish and Israeli students.”

What is UCLA sayin’?

“If these funds remain suspended, it will be devastating for UCLA,” he said.

The funding cancellation affects UCLA departments that rely on grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Energy.

“The suspension of these funds is not only a loss to the researchers who rely on critical grants,“ he said. ”It is a loss for Americans across the nation whose work, health, and future depend on our groundbreaking research and scholarship.”

Translation. We can’t pursue groundbreaking research that benefits Americans’ work, health, and future, without making jews miserable and fearful for their safety. Sounds Hitlerian, if you think about it. UCLA is essential to the success of the Fatherland, but we can’t work if you punish us for hating Jews.

Or anyone who disagrees with us, especially if they are white, or Asian, or a person of color we describe as light-skinned, to dismiss the blatant systemic hypocrisy.

Words

To be fair, there is some concern over the increasingly elevated definition of anti-semitism. Disagreeing with jews is not antisemitic. Protecting free speech rights of Americans who want to make the case for arabs living in Gaza is not antisemitism. Being wrong about any of that isn’t either, nor is advocating for their right to speak.

There is a very anti-free-speech faction among Jews and supporters that appears willing to make a special carve-out, which we’ve said is unconstitutional. Having said that, what Harvard, UCLA, Columbia, and other institutions of higher tuition have allowed to be done or condoned rises well above the threshold for actual discrimination, intimidation, and antisemitic behavior. They are hating on jews, which is ironic coming from the progressive advocates against hate speech, discrimination, and those who claim to favor diversity.

We all know that’s Orwellian doublespeak for the institutional homogenization of the liberal worldview, so I’m smiling. How many of the beneficiaries of federal taxpayer-backed largesse are dumbfounded by the loss of funding? Some of whom will not understand why they can’t hate Jews and get their money.

How unfair is that?
