The classic bait and switch for Democrats has long been the issue of immigration. When Barry Obama’s open borders policy was crushing border states, the Dems defended Federal Supremacy over Immigration policy and enforcement. States that tried to regulate any aspect were dragged into court. The moment Trump 1.0 led by that example to close the border, they flipped the script. The general government overstepped and trampled state and local laws and preferences.
They’re doing the same thing again with Trump 2.0. Where Biden’s auto-pen administration was supreme, Donald Trump’s is being heavy-handed. And it’s not just about border security or alien-invasion displacement. Not two months ago, any conversation about keeping boys out of girls’ sports was a bigoted affront to reimagined Title IX law. The Biden Administration had blessed it, and no one had the power to do anything different. We are seven weeks into Trump 2.0, and Democrats have discovered they are out of touch.
Gavin Newsom famously agreed that boys should not play on or against girls’ teams. He doesn’t mean it, nor does New Hampshire US Senator Jeanne Shaheen. She was recently quoted suggesting that this gender sports issue is something the locals should work out, not the Federal government. But Shaheen is a central planner. She is a fixture of the globalist political class whose career has focused on shifting power to the General government by all means.
There is nothing in Shaheen’s record to suggest otherwise. But we are not without the potential for forgiveness. Many a lefty has come to see the light on the right or parts of it. If Granny Shaheen truly believes in state and local rights, she can demonstrate this truth by speaking out on all the other issues where the Constitution is silent and the Tenth Amendment speaks loudest.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
The US Constitution says nothing about education funding. Can we assume that she will vote to dismantle the US Department of Education or disband it completely? If school sports are a local issue, how could education not be as well?
There are also no provisions for the fourth branch of government. The bureaucracy, lovingly referred to as the deep state or the swamp displaces significant amounts of resources and power from state and local government which – granted the power to decide what gender a human being might be – ought to be more than capable of managing money left to them were the IRS not to take it and give it to pencil-pushers who do not have local interests as their first priority.
Her hometown of Madbury, New Hampshire, would then be free to fund condoms for Gazans or Trans opera halfway across the globe. You propose a warrant article, get 25 signatures, and boom, it gets added to the town ballot. Ask your daughter Stefany to do it. Or will you risk running her in your place in 2026 (they’ve been grooming her for the gig) despite her failure to achieve any other elected office?
It is much to risk. Granny Shaheen helped triple the national debt after pointing out how irresponsible 10 trillion was in 2008. Americans can’t afford any more Shaheens in Congress, and they can’t be trusted. The moment they have power, they’ll peel off the sheep clothing and go back to being wolves.
Shaheen famously voted for legislation that gave the government power over local speech because it hindered Congress’s ability to get stuff done. She also wrote to the IRS asking them to target local political groups that could oppose her, and they did.
Democrats are heartless totalitarians, and they are grasping at whatever lie might help them find their way out of the political wilderness. But local control is the enemy of the super-state and is impossible under the globalist progressive vision that drives them and their policies.
So, expect more of this, but believe none of it.
