Over the weekend, a Massachusetts Democrat got some earned media and national attention for speaking out about boys playing in girls’ sports. If that’s your hot-button issue, you will want to hear this. Seth Moulton is a congressman from the 6th district in Massachusetts, declared, post-November 5th, that his party is out of touch.
“I think Democrats as a party spend too much time preaching, preaching down to people, talking down to folks and telling them this is what you need, this is what you want, rather than just getting out there on the ground and listening to everyday Americans,” Moulton told GBH News.
Seth kicked a giant blue wasp nest by claiming that he is opposed to boys playing in girls’ sports.
“I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”
As far as that goes, he is correct, but is he a bit late for the party? Blue-collar workers are voting Republican, as are a swell of demographic groups that are traditionally Democrat stalwarts. While the economy is their top priority, boys pretending to be girls is one of several social issues at play in that mass migration. Up to 85% of Americans disagree with allowing boys to play as girls, so more than a few of them applauded this public expression. How brave.
Not so fast.
Megyn Kelly had her team look into Seth. They discovered that before his post-election day statement, Moulton was a leader in promoting the transgender agenda in girls’ sports. He pushed legislation protecting it. He voted to make it the rule rather than the exception. He voted against efforts to get boys out of girls’ sports. He was the threat to his own daughter’s safety.
Megyn Kelly has some rather unkind things to say about the hypocrisy after exposing it on her program (beginning at 1:22:00) but this is the part where she brings the receipts.
It would be unfair not to suggest that November 5th was a Road to Damascus moment for Seth Moulton, and he continues to defend his new position despite attacks from his party, including his staffers demanding an apology to LGBTQ folks.
To add to that debate, Moulton ran unopposed. He got 96.9 % of the vote in his District 6 race. He has zero reason to publicly adopt this position or take unnecessary heat just for posture. The seat is likely his for life, no matter what he does or says. So, while Megyn’s heat is justified given his history, what if he had a road to Damascus at that moment?
I’m a firm believer in redemption if it is genuine.
Is this that, or something else?
