We were presented with a new glimpse into the mind of a Muslim-American voter in Michigan on Tuesday, and it did not bode well for Vice President Kamala Harris or the Democrats moving forward.
In the final stretches of her campaign, Harris hosted neocon Liz Cheney at several events throughout the Midwest to win over moderate, “Never-Trump” Republicans living in the suburbs of battleground states. However, we have a slight clue, courtesy of the Muslim mayor of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, that her strategy may have backfired and alienated another important demographic: Muslims and Americans with relatives in Lebanon or Palestine.
Mayor Bill Bazzi, a Muslim immigrant, told Politico that Cheney’s appearance in his home state “pushed [him] over the edge” and prompted his public endorsement of former President Donald Trump:
My mind was made up from before. My main objective is about peace and economic prosperity for our country. But what really pushed me over the edge is when Kamala Harris brought Liz Cheney to our backyard.
I just had a flashback to when her dad, [former Vice President Dick Cheney], started the war in Iraq, when he was telling the world there’s “weapons of mass destruction” there. So we started the war in Iraq under that assumption and at the same time, the company [Halliburton] that her father was tied to ended up making billions from defense contracts. So now you bring a Cheney to our backyard, whose family started a war, and now we’re in a war.
That’s when I was like, enough of this! I decided to go forward with a public endorsement after I chatted with President Trump to find out his platform. He’s a man of peace.
Suppose a decent number of Muslims in Michigan share Bazzi’s sentiment about Cheney and how the Biden-Harris administration has handled the war in Gaza. In that case, Kamala may have trouble winning the Wolverine State’s 15 electoral votes.
The Daily Caller previously reported on an activist group comprised of Muslims and socialists, Drive 75, that has been working overtime to sabotage Kamala’s campaign. According to the group, if just 75% of the roughly 200,000 Muslim-Americans living in Michigan cast their vote, Kamala will be virtually guaranteed to lose the state.
“What was a guarantee for [a Harris loss] to happen? We tried with different percentages and different turnouts, and with the 75% number, again, accounting only for the Muslim community, not other communities, not other allies, not other progressives. It essentially guaranteed a 99.9% likelihood of the vice president losing the election in Michigan if 75% of [the community turned out],” Rex Nazarko, the Drive 75 founder, told the Caller. “We ran that simulation 10,000 times, and almost every time that was the case.
Although you would have to factor in the potential votes Cheney mobilized by her tour in Michigan, something tells me that more Muslim Americans were turned off than centrist Republicans were excited when America’s beloved warmonger and nepo baby chopped it up with Kamala.
The Harris campaign also kicked out a prominent Muslim Democrat from the event featuring Cheney. No bueno!
