In some good news, the Fifth circuit court just shut down “geofencing” search warrants, which allowed the government to search for ANYBODY that was in an area during a “time of interest”. The court said that these warrants were too broad, and search warrants need to be more specific, or it was just a “fishing” expedition. Anything that limits government is a good thing, but we’ll see if they actually obey the court, or just keep doing it “sub rosa”.
