America’s Top Cop, Attorney General Merrick “Thank God He’s Not on the Supreme Court” Garland, made a significant error in his appointment of Jack Smith as Special prosecutor, according to Federal Judge Aileen Cannon.
He violated the appointments clause, which has hence invalidated the case. Cannon accepted a Trump team motion to Dismiss.
This is undoubtedly a relief for Mr. Trump and another win, but it reminds us that there are unanswered questions. What about all the loose ends in the media narrative?
As president, Trump was permitted to have classified documents in his possession. He can declassify any document while in office (which the immunity ruling affirms) and bring it with him. Once declassified, he can store them however he sees fit. In other words, was the case dismissed on a technicality to avoid other more politically dangerous issues?
Hillary mishandled classified docs, and she was never President.
Joe Biden mishandled classified documents as VP, and he wasn’t the president.
The illegal FBI raid.
The collusion between the White House and various prosecutors on this and other cases.
What about the missing binder suspected to hold key information about Crossfire Hurricane (presumed to be what they wanted when they raided Trump’s home)?
I know some folks will want to take the win. I’m not passing on it, but Trump was elected in 2016 to try to undermine the machinery of corrupt government. He says he will try to get that done this time around if we can get him in.
They will do anything to stop it, and we know it’s about more than some disposable 20-year-old from PA (he was dead whether he succeeded or not; I hope he knew that). It’s July. We have 3 1/2 months, give or take, before the election.
Almost anything could still happen, just not the conclusion of Jack Smith’s case. That’s done.
