Facebook “Trending News” Scandal Gets a Status Update

Facebook’s fiddling with what appears to be a trending topic has had a ‘status update.’ An instruction guide published by The Guardian on Thursday shows that from start to finish the Trending Topics sidebar was designed to allow a small group of Facebook “news curators” to elevate, or suppress, topics and outlets. The Guardian has documents outlining … Read more

RICO-20 Emails Released

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) prevailed in a Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) lawsuit against George Mason University (GMU). The VFOIA request sought public records showing how the “RICO-20” group of academics, using public funding, organized their call for a federal racketeering investigation of “corporations and other entities” who disagreed with them on climate policy.

Bernie v Hillary Getting Ugly in Nevada: Medic Requested at Convention

Last night supporters for the two Democrats vying for the nomination clashed at the Nevada Democrat Convention to the point the police came in to disperse the crowd (not really a surprise given the party — there’s a history here.).  One poor socialist was face down on video requiring a medic. https://youtu.be/H9yNZbNqraE Ahh, the things … Read more

Another Enviro-Prediction proves to be poo-poo?

Great LakesYeah, I guess that environmental prediction biz is “sustainable” – turn around and there’s yet another growing up.  Good thing too – they seem to be dying as well.  Like this one (emphasis mine):

Great Lakes Go from ‘Climate Change-Induced’ Low Water Levels to Record Highs in 3 Years

Between 2010 and 2013 residents of the states surrounding the Great Lakes were told that climate change was permanently altering their environment and the record low water levels being recorded in the lakes may be the new normal. But now, only three years later, news reports are worried about beach erosion because the lakes have rebounded to record high levels of water.

Libertarian Prez Candidate Darryl Perry won’t register with the FEC?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Darryl PerryGiven what I wrote here, I thought this was interesting as the First Amendment only talks about speech – with no modifier (e.g., hate, scornful, loving, political) in front of it; any kind of speech is speech:

Libertarian presidential candidate Darryl Perry has refused to file campaign paperwork with the Federal Election Commission because he believes there is no constitutional reason for the agency to exist.  “There shouldn’t be a federal agency that oversees campaign finance,” Perry told TheBlaze in an interview Tuesday.

Remember, it isn’t about the money, it is about the ability to exercise your Right to Free Speech in the political realm.  Which generally means

Why did Donald Trump win the R Primary?

“most Americans no longer understand what it means to be an American“ Sadly, I am well on my way in believing that.  Dennis Prager (of Prager U whose videos we put up a lot here at the ‘Grok) has a splendid post on why Donald Trump won and the biggest one is not one many … Read more

Wendy’s Goes Full KIOSK!

Wendy's

A number of fast-food providers have hinted at moving to self-service restaurant kiosks, interactive digital devices customers use to place an order.

. The Kiosk would replace the cashier/order-taker at the restaurant, and all of the costs associated with employing them.

Burger chain Wendy’s is no longer hinting. They are making the option available in company stores and to franchisees that want them. Any or all of the 6000 plus locations could have Kiosks installed, starting in the second half of 2016.

Woo Hoo For Citizens United, Watch Hillary’s America

Thank goodness for the Citizens United decision because now we can all see this movie and it will not be banned regardless that it’s about a Democrat politician.  It looks delicious in its portrayal of the detestable nastiness that is the history of the Democrat party.  You know slavery, eugenics, the KKK, lynchings, anti Civil … Read more

Score One for The Good Guys – End-of-Life Choice Study Committee Bill Fails

picassistedsuicide27Last week an important vote was taken in the New Hampshire State House on SB 426. This bill would have initiated a study commission to discuss “end of life” choices. I am happy to say that SB 426 was killed in a New Hampshire State House by a vote of 123 – 174. One for the good guys.

Too many people are misinformed or ignorant regarding the “end-of-life” debate. It is important for folks to understand how end of life “discussion” in our State House could breed the right of euthanasia. We should not go there.
