The media tried to sell July as hotter than anything ever without acknowledging that the temperature record we have proves that it is a lie or that there is no temperature record for much of the world or its existence. There is no scientific way to support the assertion.
NOAA plays this game, too, encouraged by their media cult allies, and they’ve got a new game.
If you search sites like Newspapers.com, anything similar, or even just a non-Google search engine, you will find reports across time and save (history) of massive damage and loss of life from changing climate long before CO2 was repurposed by Marxists.
Regardless of when or where, if you don’t adjust for inflation for the sake of comparison, you are – what’s the word – lying about the relative fiscal cost and impact.
$100 in 1962 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,016.64 today, an increase of $916.64 over 61 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.87% per year between 1962 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 916.64%.
This means that today’s prices are 10.17 times as high as average prices since 1962, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index. A dollar today only buys 9.836% of what it could buy back then.
One of NOAA’s “Billion Dollar Disasters,” today in 1962 dollars, is $98,600,000. That’s 900 million shy of a billion.
The other issue, aside from the value of a dollar and inflation, is how different the world is today from any point prior to it. America has grown, placing more people and more expensive infrastructure in harm’s way. Any storm, regardless of strength, will cause more damage and more expensive damage than a similar event 50, 100, or 150 years ago.
Without adjusting for inflation, it’s apples to oranges. It is bad math, lazy accounting, or simply dishonest. In other words, it’s what we’ve come to expect from the Climate Cult and its enablers.
