The head coach for Men’s Team Canada Powerlifting felt it necessary to make a point – that men should not be competing as women. To bring it home and hard, he showed up at a women’s powerlifting event in Alberta, identified as female, and beat the women’s bench press record by more than 100 pounds.

A women’s record previously held by a man identifying as a woman.
There was a powerlifting tournament in Alberta, Canada, on Saturday where history was made. Avi Silverberg, the head coach for Team Canada Powerlifting for more than 10 years, entered Saturday’s Heroes Classic tournament after identifying as a female.
Silverberg then casually stepped up and bench pressed 370 pounds, beating the old record by more than 100 pounds — a record held by trans athlete Anne Andres.
Do you think he made his point? No biological woman will likely ever beat his record.

[Anne] Andres volunteered at the event and was seen watching Silverberg when he made his historic lift. Andres won eight of nine competitions entered in the women’s category over the last four years, according to the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS), which supplied the video of the event.
The only requirement to compete in the tournament was that the athlete declare their gender. Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU) policy allows competitors to register for events under their “gender identity and expression, rather than their sex or gender,” vowing “no consequences” for doing so.
Another man (Andres) made it his mission to steal things from Real™ Women. Seriously, eight of nine competitions, including the record lift that Avi showed up to Transjack from a Transjacker. The competition policy is just nuts (see what I did there?).
It’s not fair. It doesn’t matter what surgery or hormones you take; any man who went through puberty before they “changed teams” can make it unfair to biological women, which means it can be reduced to a competition between men with girls’ names or men’s names or just a bunch of men who start as B or C team men’s competitors and lift their way into the record books by identifying as women.
They’ll even get a princess party from the progressives for robbing women of athletic accomplishment or even glory.
Not Avi. He planned to save the sport for women, and if you don’t like it, go ahead and cry.
