Critical CareOn this day in 1530, English King Henry VIII‘s divorce request was denied by the Pope. Henry kicked Catholicism to the curb, created the church of England, and went on to have six wives total, in order, Catherine (divorced), Anne (beheaded), Jane (died), Anne (divorced), Catherine (beheaded), and Catherine(Outlived him).

On March 7th, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received a patent for the telephone in the US. In 1912 Roald Amundsen announced his discovery of the South Pole (located on 14 December 1911). And in 1936, Adolf Hitler broke the Treaty of Versailles by sending troops into the Rhineland.

March 7th is also national Alexander Bell Day (guess why), national flapjack day, and sock monkey day. The latter is not to be confused with sock monkey-pox day, which is celebrated in June (not really).
