The Morning Mail – March 12th, 2023

Note to the FBI and Big Tech, today is World Day against Cyber Censorship Day. It’s also Glaucoma day, so many won’t see that. It is also Alfred Hitchcock Day and the Aztec New Year, but since it predicted the world’s end in 2012, there’s no point in celebrating that.

It is also Daylight Saving Time for those who must suffer it, so I hope you moved your clocks ahead an hour last night, or you’ll be an hour late for everything today (I know, our smartphones do it for us).

In sixteen-hundred-and-forty-two, Abel Tasman sailed the ocean blue, and became the 1st European to “discover” New Zealand (Tasmania, which he also “discovered,” was eventually named after him). In 1918 Vlad the economic impaler Lenin moved Russia’s revolutionary capital from Petrograd (St. Petersburg) to Moscow. Ghandi began his famous 200-mile protest march against the widely hated British salt tax in 1930. Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In last aired on NBC-TV (1973). And the Church of England ordained 33 female priests (1993).
