On this day in 202 BC, Liu Bang’s coronation begins four centuries of Han Dynasty rule over China. The Republican Party was formally organized in Ripon, Wisconsin (1854).

Francis Crick and James Watson discovered the chemical structure of DNA molecule (double-helix polymer) in 1953. The Gulf War ended (in 1991) after Iraq accepted a ceasefire following its retreat from Kuwait. Michael Jackson won eight Grammys (1984), and a 2-hour TV episode of “M*A*S*H” airs, directed by series star Alan Alda titled “Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen” 1983.
