Items identified as firearms or ammunition will get a special code in the credit card registry of everything ever bought or sold on a charge card, so doofus losers like NY Governor Kathy Hochul can say this supports the fight against crime.

No. This is not about that, and you know it. Gun traffickers are not using the American Express Card that they did not leave home without to transact business. This has only one purpose and one purpose only.
To serve as a registry for everyone who legally purchased guns or ammunition so you can either leak the list (oops!) or, when you get ballsy enough, send someone else’s loved ones to go door to door to collect them.
It will not prevent gun crime or violent crime. But it might be useful to implicate people in purchasing weapons they never truly owned. In case you need that look.
Then there is all this talk of the cashless society—Commerce communism. But I guess you’ll need all the guns before you can get to that part of your plan.
