The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Maine’s school choice program that allows cities and towns to provide tuition assistance for a child’s education. There was an attempt to deny this assistance to parents who choose a religious school for their children. That amounts to discriminatory practices.
The Maine parents won, but the NH School Boards Association LOST. HOW? Because the NHSBA filed an amicus brief supporting a school choice program that discriminated against children who chose a religious school.
Why was the NHSBA involved in a school choice court case in Maine? Who knows. It does lead you to believe that they are hostile to school choice, and children receiving a religious education. But it’s the parents who decide if they want their children to receive a religious education, so why interfere?
Once again, we see who is willing to wage war against parental rights. Why are they so hostile towards parents who want to provide an opportunity for their child to receive a quality education using our tax dollars?
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the school choice program has to extend to children attending a religious schools too. The Court has been clear in the past, you don’t get to discriminate against parents choosing a religious school. So why would the NHSBA take a position that was clearly discriminatory?
The lower court did allow the discriminatory practices to proceed, but it was the justices on the Supreme Court who overruled that decision. The parents sued and won.
Taxpayers fund the NHSBA through the dues we pay to our local schools. They then take that money and fund their efforts to fight against parental rights. This is just another example.
Not only are they fighting parental rights in New Hampshire, but now in Maine too. They are using our tax dollars in their efforts.
Tell your local school board members that they need to STOP paying dues to an organization that is hostile to parental rights and religious liberty. STOP supporting DISCRIMINATION!
Remember when the National School Boards Association asked President Biden to weaponize the federal government against parents who attend school board meetings in an effort to fight for their children? The national organization joined forces with the New Hampshire organization to fight for parental rights in Maine. They are working hand-in-hand against parental rights. And YOU pay their salaries out of the school budget.
We have an alternative to the NHSBA, it’s the School District Governance Association. They can assist school boards in New Hampshire without this kind of assault on parents. This would be a better way of utilizing taxpayer funds.
CALL the NHSBA and tell them to STOP their agenda against parental rights and STOP their support of discrimination.
