Adult residents in SAU16 were greeted to signs like these when they arrived at the Deliberative Session. Masked residents parked, entered the building, and were seated in one area of the building. Unmasked residents were required to park, enter the building, and were seated in a separate room where they could not be seen.
Everyone could leave the building, head to a local restaurant in town without masks, and it wouldn’t be a problem. But when you deal with tyrannical control freaks, this is the kind of segregation they will come up with.
Oh and to the resident who insisted on knowing the cost per student, (which no one could provide him) BRAVO! This is information that should be transparent at all Deliberative Sessions.
School administrators love to hide that information from the public. But one wise resident asked what should have been a very simple question from the administrators who make 6-figure salaries. I can’t even imagine a manager at a Fortune 500 company not having that information available for their bosses at corporate meeting. But we are talking about public school administrators who think they can do a poor job and no one will expect better. Not this time. This time one of the residents wanted to know that figure.
EVERYONE should be asking that question when they attend their Deliberative Session. How many students are enrolled in the district? What is the proposed budget. Divide the two numbers and you will get a more accurate view of the cost /student in your district.
Not only could the administrators in SAU16 NOT provide this most basic and simple information, they stumbled with providing him the number of students so he could do a simple calculation. I would ask this question of the Bedford School Board members and administrators every time I attended the Deliberative Session. I’m not sure they were thrilled that I asked the question, but they were able to provide the details so we could make that calculation and announce it to those in attendance. Obviously that’s not happening in SAU16/Exeter.
