Republican Legislature Strips Democrat Secretary of State of Election Lawsuit Powers

Democrats are big advocates for change, but this wasn’t what they had in mind. Republicans in Arizona just made a big change. Secretary of State Katie Hobbs will no longer have the legal authority to oversee lawsuits relating to elections in the state.

That authority has been transferred to State Attoenry General Mark Brnovich. A Republican.

The measure “shifted exclusive control over election lawsuits from Hobbs to Brnovich “but only through Jan. 2, 2023 — when the winners of the next elections for both offices would be about to take power,” the Times noted. “The aim is to ensure that the authority given to [Brnovich] would not transfer to any Democrat who won the next race for attorney general.”

If State law allows it, they have all the authority they need to change those rules. I’m not familiar with Arizona State Law, but this appears to be the case. But we should remember the Senate Dems and the nuclear option. Once you uncork that genie, good luck getting it back into the bottle.

Republicans waved it Democrat faces for years under Trump.

AS for Arizona, I can’t say that I blame them. Hobbs appears to be one of those Soros Secretaries of State. She has ties to money from more than one of his Organizations. Oh, and  “Hobbs notably likened Trump supporters to “neo-Nazis” in 2017, before she took her position as secretary of state.”

Not exactly the sort of person you’d expect equal treatment from under any law, so maybe this move by the Republican Legislature is Karma running over her TDS Dogma.
