Squeaky-Hinge Leftists Whine About Senators Shaheen and Hassan Rejecting Federal Minimum Wage Hike

Sens. Hassan and Shaheen

The surprising rejection of Bernie’s signature job-killing minimum wage hike took a few folks in New Hampshire by surprise. Among them us and a few squeaky-hinge Way-out-in-Left-Field Democrats like Sherry Frost (D-Dover).

NH Journal reports that Frost, Eric Gallager (D-Concord), and Rep. Catherine Sofikitis (D-Nashua) expressed dismay. Who are the other two? I have no idea. But they’re not happy.

“It is time to primary them and replace them with actual Democrats who will actually stand up for the working class. “Shaheen and Hassan aren’t moderates, they’re right-wing conservatives who need to be primaried from the left,” Gallager added.

I guess he would know. According to his LinkedIn, he spent four months as one of Shaheens Legislative Interns in 2011.

If Gallager thinks Shaheen is rubbing elbows with us at the ‘Grok, well, that’s wrong. A more accurate description would be that Eric is more like the Bernie Bro Guillotine the Rich sort of Leftists (socialist thinking he’ll have a seat at the table) while Shaheen is, well, a very rich leftist (guaranteed a seat at the table).

As for the minimum wage, Eric needs a job (if his LinkedIn is to be believed).

Eric Gallager

I am a political activist and state legislator based in Concord, New Hampshire. Since being a state legislator in New Hampshire isn’t technically a real job (we only get paid $200), I am still open to other job opportunities in the area, insofar as they do not conflict with the legislature’s schedule or ethics rules. After the pandemic ends and I have achieved as many of my key legislative goals as I can, I will become open to positions that would require me to step down from the legislature and move elsewhere, chiefly ones in the Trenton, New Jersey area (where my fiancée lives), and the Washington, DC area (where I went to college).

I can only assume a mandatory 15.00/hour minimum wage in NH is one goal that he knows he’ll never achieve unless Jeanne and Maggie cram it down our throats from DC and he’d rather be in DC.

That leaves my earlier remarks about the vote by Shaheen and Hassan. I said, that in the absence of attacks on th evote “That tells us that it is posturing and nothing else. They are pretending to oppose it for whatever reasons they eventually cough up to the press knowing that the hike is in the pipeline.”

I have yet to see anyone prominent make a peep. Not the party or its officers. No MoveOn.org email action alerts.

No offense to the Lefty Backbenchers in the NH House but your whining does not count.

I stand by my earlier assessment.

You’ll get a swing at the job killing wage hike but it will have nothing to do with your squeaky hinges. Neither Senator has rejected the idea they are just choosing to waste 1.9 trillion without it. Don’t worry, it’s coming, and Maggie Hassan votes for it you may get your wish. She’ll be done serving in the US Senate but it won’t be a Democrat replacing her in 2022.
