When President Trump entered the White House he should have cleaned house. He didn’t. As a result, he has paid a huge price. He was assuming it is possible to work with the leftists he inherited.
Saving money and reducing problems
But, he had a bigger problem than he ever dreamed. It turns out the previous administration did their best to stack the deck against him. It expanded the size of government to record level. Numerous offices had two or more times the number of staff compared to previous administrations.
Worse yet, those left behind were leftists and loyalists. People like Vindman and Sondland have now tried to paint Trump in a bad light during impeachment with their evidenceless opinion. President Trump is now quietly busy draining the swamp. He just finished draining 70 from a bloated NSC organization.
According to the Washington Examiner:
“President Trump is making good on his promises to “drain the swamp” and cut Obama-era holdovers from his staffs, especially the critical and recently controversial National Security Council. Officials confirmed that Trump and national security adviser Robert O’Brien have cut 70 positions inherited from former President Barack Obama, who had fattened the staff to 200.”
The swamp dwellers remained camoflaged
This is long overdue good news. We heard about the firing of Alexander Vindman. He and his brother were members of the National Security Council. Alexander made an appearance before the House impeachment inquiry. Vindman was accusing Trump of “pressuring” Ukraine for a quid-pro-quo, based on his opinion. Trump was acquitted. Now Vindman’s gone.
That was for starters. Trump also got rid of Ambassador Sondland, another man who testified against him. Not only did Trump cut these high profile detractors he has also cut the bloated size of the office. In doing so he is saving taxpayers money. The move took way too long but at least he has learned from his mistake and taken corrective action. The remedy reduces the size of government, makes it more responsive and cost-effective.
These were people who have worked in government for years. Their loyalties are to the Democrat Party not to America. Worse yet they were actively working against the duly elected Commander and Chief and his chosen policies. Why did Trump kept them around until now? He’s been busy undoing the mess he inherited. Maybe some of these swamp dwellers remained camouflaged pretending to be allies…
The everyday headline should be…
Whatever the excuses, the masks are off. Trump’s taken off his gloves and gone to work. Here’s hoping these 70 are the first of many. Trump fires seventy clingers should be the headline every day.
