Another “candidate” for Sweet Meteor of Death (SMOD) will be making a near-earth flyby tomorrow morning. Sure, you can vote for SMOD (write-in candidate) but don’t get your hopes up for a selfie. By near-miss they mean 3.6 million miles. Astronomically close yet so far away.
The kilometer-wide asteroid NASA officially calls 2002 PZ39 will get closest to earth at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, when it will be 3.6 million miles away. This asteroid is cruising at around 34,000 mph, and will at its closest be about 15 times the distance of the moon.
“There’s no hazard or danger,” Paul Chodas, director of NASA’s Center for Near Earth Objects Studies, insisted to the Herald on Thursday. “We’ve been watching this asteroid for years, and we know its orbit very well.”
The experts say there is no “known” asteroid scheduled to impact the earth for at least the next hundred years so the biggest threat to “life on earth” remains the Democrat Party itself and its evil empire appeasement strategies.
