I’m going to have to insist that the State of Washington consider a name change. My first suggestion is ‘CastroWest.’ If that’s too lame for the Marxists, perhaps something a bit more historic. “TrostskyLand” or EnglesPurchase. Wait! Leningrad is available!

So, the state government of Washington State Leningrad has proposed a ban on assault weapons. Yes, I know, any weapon used to assault someone else is an ‘Assault weapon’ but for the purposes of this exercise in tyranny, we’ll defer – if only briefly – to Reuters (via MSN) reporting and lack of any challenge whatsoever to this consideration.
The state of Washington on Thursday proposed bans on the sale of “assault weapons” and high capacity magazines, part of a package of gun laws meant to address a rising wave of U.S. mass shootings.
Not that this works but again, a bit of deference to make a point.
“We should be making it harder for those who want to inflict mass violence and destruction upon innocent people,” Governor Jay Inslee said in announcing the gun-control push. “By limiting magazine capacity and banning assault weapons, we can work toward a day where no one in Washington state loses a friend or family members to senseless gun violence,” Inslee said.
Just like they have in Chicago, and Baltimore, and Detroit?
Hey Jay, (whom we doesn’t has to call Mr. Inslee), as governor of Washington State Leningrad instead of emulating gun laws in places with more rape, robbery, assault, murder, and property crime, why not look to someplace like New Hampshire? We have very loose gun laws, truckloads of assault weapons, people carrying concealed all over, and huge magazines! And for some strange reason, researchers seem unwilling to include that in their studies. Is it because we consistently have one of the lowest crime rates in the nation?
Unlike the places with the smaller magazines or all the gun bans, flag laws, and other restrictions.
I know you think you are doing everyone a favor. And maybe, though I doubt it, you prevent one criminal from shooting up someplace, but at what cost? The restrictions you are choosing to embrace will result in hundreds if not thousands more assaults, rapes, robbing, and murders. Maybe every year. And for as long as you disarm your citizens and leave them helpless victims of those who are actually in favor of the laws you plan. We call them criminals.
And I bet, if they are allowed – if you’ve allowed them – will vote for you, and quietly (or not) thank you and the Democrats for creating a more target-rich environment for crime and violent crime.
As for the rest of us, well, I guess we’ll not be going to Washington unless it’s to a 2A sanctuary city or county where we know we are less likely to be assaulted by the State or the criminals they aid and abet.
