David Koch has Passed Away – Keep Your Eyes Open for Liberal’s Cheering

David Koch, who has donated over a billion dollars to charity has died at the age of 79.

“While we mourn the loss of our hero, we remember his iconic laughter, insatiable curiosity, and gentle heart,” his family said in a statement.

David and his brother Charles, who were tied for the title of the 7th-richest person in the world, were for years political influencers with their powerful Koch Industries. They often donated to conservative causes, although David was more liberal on social issues.

The Koch brothers, while prolific givers to charity are also known for their political activism.

They have a set of values — freedom, independence, private community-based efforts and personal charity — and they’ve used their considerable fortune to set up a lot of venues to promote those values.

We have been beneficiaries of that activism. No, they never wrote us a check But Skip was honored at right OnLine as a blogger of the year. I was recognized for my blogging as well, in December of 2012.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, including their extended family at AFP, many of whom we know well.

And, per the headline, we’d be interested in any cheers from the New Hampshire left of David’s passing. The Democrats despise the Koch brothers. We can’t imagine them not gloating and dancing on David’s grave.

We’d also appreciate you sending us any of the right sorts of responses from the left.  They are not all like that, and those that respect all life, even when it is in the person of a political opponent, deserve credit for their compassion.
