Make July ‘Gun Pride’ Month

Tom Knighton at Bearing Arms has a great idea. Given that everyone else is declaring parts of the calendar their month, how about we claim one for the Second Amendment? And what better month than July.

So, I’m proposing we make damn sure people know we’re here and we won’t be silent. Next month is July, the month we celebrate our nation’s independence. How did we get independence? We shot people who thought we shouldn’t have it, that’s how.

As such, I’m making a humble proposal to the pro-gun people throughout the land. I propose we make July “Gun Pride Month.”

We should have a month to celebrate our support of the Second Amendment. We should have a month where we remind people that we exist, that we’re their neighbors and co-workers, their doctors and lawyers, their bankers and checkout clerks; we’re everywhere. More importantly, we should remind people that we’re not going anywhere.

The Library of Congress doesn’t list one for July so we need to claim it now.

And I don’t think it’s necessarily a new idea but GraniteGrok is in and I’m prepared to declare, whether anyone else goes along or not, that around these parts, at least, July is officially Gun Pride Month.

So, be proud ammosexuals all year round and defenders of the second amendment. But come out of the closet in July. Make sure you parade down to the range. Open carry when you feel like it (make sure it’s legal unless you want to get arrested). And don’t let those gun-grabbing liberal-privilege bigots get you down.

And if you’re really itchin’ to hear some bitchin’ suggest a gun-pride-story time at your local library.
